No. 1 (to Humans) Oregon Dismantles USC: The Oregon Ducks went to Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum and ran over the USC Trojans 53-32 Saturday, strengthening their hold on the No. 1 position in the AP and USA Today polls. Ducks quarterback Darron Thomas threw for four touchdowns, running back LaMichael James ran for three and wide receiver Jeff Maehl caught three. Though humans believe they are the country's best team, the Ducks trailed eight teams in the computer rankings employed by the Bowl Championship Series prior to this weekend -- putting the Auburn Tigers atop the BCS rankings. "Besides strength of schedule, the main reason Oregon looks weak to the computers is that the computers are blind to margin of victory," explains ESPN's Ted Miller.
Apparently the computers agree now.

Cracks me up how quite a few were picking USC to pull the upset in this one. So many are still caught up in the old USC mystique, they fail to see how powerful and explosive Oregon is this season.
I think they've changed their tune now.

"They have a good running back and a good quarterback. Other than that, they're really not that good."

It seems like NCAA FB dynasties run for a decade at best now-more often it only goes about 6 years or so. Even though this has been the case for awhile now, it seems that almost every fan takes a bit too long to realize how fast the turnover is.

Notwithstanding the fact that I would like the BCS blown up and maybe some cluster*$%& at the top this year would help hasten its demise, I think an Auburn-Oregon national championship game would be very entertaining.

..and long over due. Auburn has been screwed out of a chance to play for a championship a few times in last couple years and so has Oregon. I would love to see Boise or TCU in the big one, but I think an Auburn-Oregon national championship game would be great.
