Yankees Caps Popular Among Criminals: "[D]ozens of men and women who have robbed, beaten, stabbed and shot at their fellow New Yorkers have done so while wearing Yankees caps or clothing," the New York Times reports. "Since 2000, more than 100 people who have been suspects or persons of interest in connection with serious crimes in New York City wore Yankees apparel at the time of the crimes or at the time of their arrest or arraignment. ... only about a dozen people in the same review were found to be wearing Mets gear."
"He wears it and makes it look cool," Ms. Bailey said of Jay-Z and the cap. "It's almost like the Yankees have acquired a kind of street rep, a coolness."
It's Jay-Z's fault. That is what popped in my mind before I even read the article.

I dunno, being the richest, most popular, most successful team in baseball may have something to do with it. What a non-story.

Wearing a Mets anything should be an actual crime. Also, what MKUltra said.

Love for the city of new york sells yankee caps also. It doesn't mean the wearer is a fan of or has even ever watched a baseball game.

As a Red Sox fan, I resent this. Plenty of criminals wear our hats, too.

I bet a higher percentage of NY criminals wear their pants below their ass or their shorts just above the ankles.
Heaven forbid they should ever come up with a hybrid of this.

Spike Lee no doubt would like some mention for being early with the NY thing.

A few heartbreakers and homewreckers wearing the pink ones.

That. The Yankees logo started showing up a lot after 9/11.
And they're all bank robbers in one square mile of Charlestown.
This is actually looking like a pretty good movie, but the nun thing is freaky.

That Affleck movie? I think the Charlestown as bank robber capital of the world thing goes back to the '60s at least.

I think it has something to do with the criminals wanting to be associated with all things money and power....and oh yeah, EVIL
