Rams are NFL's Least Popular Team: The St. Louis Rams are the NFL's least popular team nationally, according to a new study by the Nielsen media-research firm. Rated on factors including local and national TV ratings, mentions on the Internet and visits to the teams official web site, the Rams scored 78 points lower than the Dallas Cowboys in first place. "When you've won as much as we have recently, it's not surprising," said team exec Kevin Demoff.

I'm so disinterested in the Rams, I was more drawn to this article on the sidebar of rcade's original link...

I was more drawn to 13 Reasons your stripper hates you than the Rams.

But, why should the Rams be popular? Other than Sam Bradford, is there any reason to be excited about them, or to pay attention to what they do?

I read that Missouri Sex Slave thing and it's the most depraved, sickest crime I have ever heard of. Holy.

Makes me think back to the time when the Rams (out in Calif.) named their cheerleaders the Embraceable Ewes.

They caught hell for that. Maybe the folks raising the fuss were not aware of the Gershwin reference.

Wish I hadn't thought about that. Now I'm remembering the Buffalo Jills and the Halas Honey Bears.

Like the story says, this study has flaws. Also, I'm not sure a study had to be done to figure this whole thing out. The team resides in a baseball city. They aren't ever on national TV. Their recent record sucks. But, remember a few years back, during the "Greatest Show On Turf" days? The Rams were a popular team to watch then, and once they get back to winning, the fickle sports fan will start to come around too.

dyams, was that when they were in St. Louis? Seems to me that teams that hop cities are going to have a bit of a popularity problem, all other considerations aside.

The Kurt Warner, Marshall Faulk, Tory Holt, Isaac Bruce days in St. Louis when they won a Super Bowl versus the Titans, then lost to the Pats, put the Rams up there on television ratings and appearances. Changing cities absolutely screws a team up, and, again, St. Louis just isn't a football town. The Rams suck, but other teams stink, too. The Bills aren't good, but in Buffalo they're one of the only things sports fans in the area have to cling to. If the Rams are invisible in their own city, the rest of the country will ignore them also.
