Steelers' Leftwich Injures Knee: Steelers quarterback Byron Leftwich, expected to replace Ben Roethlisberger during his suspension, injured his left knee in the second quarter of Pittsburgh's final preseason game and is out indefinitely. Charlie Batch, come on down.

Charlie Batch may have gone from getting cut to starting game one in a 24 hour time period. Leftwich was brought in for 4-6 games . Now he will miss the 1st 2-4 weeks. I think an injury may have just got Byron cut. but will prob help him get picked up down the road.

Let's see, Ben suspended for 4 games, Leftwich out a possible 4 weeks or longer, I don't see any problem with Batch starting. He isn't that bad of a QB. I wish he had more playing time under his belt though.

Of the first 4 teams they play in the season (Atlanta, Tenn, TB, Balt, wk 5 is a bye) Tennessee and Baltimore are the only tough ones IMHO. Unless the Steelers fold like a cheap lawnchair the first 4 wks, and anything can happen, I am not that worried.

I don't think Atlanta is an easy win. I think they'd be very happy to go 2-2. But that smells 1-3 to me.

Could be Weedy, with that "any given Sunday" thing, but 1-3? Gah! Then I am worried, especially if Polamalu doesn't come back 100%.

Agree completely. As a Steeler fan, I'd be ecstatic with 2-2, but I'm thinking 1-3.

At the very least it'll give me plenty ammunition for my ignorant fellow Steeler-fan friends who were hoping Ben would be CUT after his alleged summer activities. Cut a top 5, 2-time SB winning QB? One of my facebook friends was actually convinced Dixon was a good NFL QB...hopefully those questions were put to rest last pre-season game when he ran with the 1's. There's something about Steeler fans and belief in their #3 QBs..I've been hearing these sort of crazy sentiments back with Mike Quinn, etc.

Let's run with Batch...hope for a couple of bounces our way, and see what Ben can turn around when he gets back.

You really think Atlanta is going to be that tough? I don't get to see them play much with the bare bones cable I have.
