Russian Goalie Can't Stop 70-Meter Shot: Rubin Kazan keeper Sergei Ryzhikov gave up one of the most nightmarish goals of all time to Spartak Nalchik defender Milan Jovanovic yesterday in the Russian Premier League.
I think I still prefer Xabi Alonso's long goal. Apparently this goal wasn't even his first from his own half:

The first one Harper falls over. The other one was a completely empty net. (Which isn't meant to diminish Alonso's skill at all.)
Liverpool were winning 4-3 against Luton in the FA Cup when, with no time left in the game, Luton had a corner - Luton's Goalkeeper came forward to attack and was caught in Liverpool's area as the ball broke to Alonso who hit a low shot into the goal from about 65 yards.

So, the Russians play soccer in a bouncy castle?

This brings back so many bad memories of being both a soccer and hockey goaltender growing up.

Alonso's goal against Newcastle is amazing. He sees the opportunity and pounces.

Its those god damn fake grass pitches that the russians use... I can't understand why FIFA/UEFA/etc. are allowing this...

Speaking of fake grass pitches... my favorite "oh shit" goal.

That misjudgment is something I would expect to see with my U10 team.
Lively rug there providing the big bounce. Lotta nice hard concrete underneath no doubt. Must be the Vet's sister facility.
