NY Post: Tiger Woods Will Return to Golf March 25: Tiger Woods will return to golf two weeks from now at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in Orlando, two sources told the New York Post. "I would be shocked if he didn't play the Arnold Palmer," said one of the informants, who the paper described only as "sources in the golf community."

He would be smart to get some of the media blitz out of the way prior to The Masters if he plans on playing in that tournament. Even though Augusta is sedate and well-behaved, it's not fair to make such a huge spectacle of himself there and taking the spotlight away from the actual tournament.

I've thought the same for a while now, dyams. And despite my distaste for him before and after this debacle he's created (unrelated to his infidelity), I was confident he wouldn't be this ambivalent to the circus he'd be creating. I was personally appalled as a father at his actions, but only mildly annoyed as a golf fan, and I never felt he "owed" me anything. However, his actions post-scandal have ensured that not only will my not-so-fond view of him remain, he's actually made me less interested in the golf tournaments he participates in. Of course, these kind of conflicting reports only highlight the fact we simply need to wait and see. But if the Masters is his first tournament back ... if I watch at all (and suffer through the inane media coverage sure to occur), it will only be to hopefully watch him fall flat on his ass. Of course, for every person like me that avoids the Masters, there will be 10 that tune in solely to watch the soap opera aspect.

I can't decide which is worse, me actually feeling compelled to comment on that, or you taking the time to take up space with that.
I CARE ... I don't care about Tiger, but his actions are now entering the realm of impacting my enjoyment of a major sporting event. So, this isn't about passing judgement on Tiger's moral fiber, and up until now he didn't owe me any apology or explanation, but now he IS directly affecting me.
So, inside this little bubble of a thread inside a sports forum, please let those of us who do care, comment, and if you don't care, move along.

Who cares?
/politely raises hand
I do.
I still don't get it. Tiger didn't do anything that hasn't been done by flawed individuals, both male and female, famous or not. He cheated on his wife, he didn't break any laws or is going away to prison. It's a shame that he did what he did but that's really not my concern, that's between him and his wife.
I enjoy watching the man play golf and wasn't really a fan of the game until Tiger showed up and what he or any athlete does outside of their respective sport isn't something that my life is consumed with.
But that's just one man's opinion.

I share BI's sentiment. I would only add that I think it's ridiculous how many of his peers seem to think all of Tiger's recent decisions are somehow intended to take attention away from them, and act as though the appropriate course of action would be for a players committee to plot Tiger's reintroduction to the game for him.
Funny thing is, if not for this side show, most people wouldn't even know that professional golf was being played these days...

Exactly. If you don't care about a particular link, move on. Telling us all you don't care is a waste of time.

Back for the Masters. Trying to get back in the game with one swing much?

The bookies already like him as the 4/1 favourite. Phil is second favourite at 7/1. If I were a bookie, I'd put Tiger out at 25/1 (still a fraction of his "true" odds) and grab that idiot money while the grabbing is good.

I've got some idiot money in my pocket.
How large a wager would you like to handle on that, JJ ?
I'd put some money down on Eldrick at 25/1 .

My who cares comment was not about caring enough to discuss it in the forum. It was saying who cares if he plays or not. If I were interested in the Masters Golf Tournament I probably would prefer a Tigerless tournament as it will only create a circus around an event that is more dignified than that. I agree also with BI regarding Tigers transgressions, his personal life is just that personal, and the only apology he owes to anybody are those who are adversely affected by his actions ie his family and corporate sponsors.
In any case the way everything is being handled by Tiger, it is apparent that Tiger is all about Tiger, and if history is any indication the one thing you can count on where Tiger is concerned, that he will do exactly what he wants, with little regard for the effect it may have on others. So I do expect him to show up, play golf when and where it suits him. 100% within his right. We get to think about him whatever we like and he gets to not care. Perfect.

Tiger is a self centered player who throws his clubs when he is not happy and uses a lot of profanity in front of the onlookers. So rcade if this is your kind of hero, God bless you. He is not my hero, so tha's why I couldn't care less if he ever showed up anywhere!!!

Wanting people to have a point when they post a comment does not make Tiger Woods my hero.

Not so fast
Either way, i think it could be quite possible that even Tiger hasn't made a definitive decision. The deadline for confirmed entries is March 19th for the Arnold Palmer Invitational. I'm sure there will be a few more "sources" coming out with different reports between now and next friday. But we will know for sure next week.
There are millions I'm sure that only watch non-major golf tournaments when Tiger plays. Thats why this matters.

Who cares? Until Tiger says it, does it really mean anything? Come to think of it even if Tiger says it, does it really mean anything? He is after all a first class liar.
