Even though the season goes until the end of April, the playoff race in the East looks like it's going to be a doozy. There are eight teams within five points of sixth, leaving three spots up for grabs. Rangers, Bruins, Isles, Flyers, Thrashers, Habs, Panthers, and Bolts. Who do you like in April to take the spots?

I would have to go with the Bruins, Isles and a third team to be named later.

Boston has great goaltending and that can be enough to get you in. As for the Isles, I think the young group they have will push their way in under the old :to young and dumb to realize they shouldnt be there. Tavaras is unreal and they have been on a tear the last 11 games. It will most likely depend on who stays most healthy and trade deadline moves.

Last year around this time, the Penguins were in 10th place. They made some good moves and got healthy and hot at the right time and won a cup.

Sean Salisbury admits taking phonecam pics of his junk and showing them to people, still won't apologize to - or drop the lawsuit against - Deadspin.

Wow, Salisbury is a mess. He admits the truth of the main Deadspin claim against him, he flat-out lied to Deadspin about that incident, but he's still suing the site because he's a crusader to clean up online reporting?

Dude. Sometimes you have to take a sack and move on.

Please tell em you are not one of those conspiracy crazys that think the commish gave the cup to Sid in an attempt to revialize the NHL and that the pens get all the calls. Detroit had a 2 game lead and more powerplays during the series. They just ran out of gas.

He also has to stop taking pics of his sack, no one wants to see that.

He was going to lose the suit whether it was true or a lie anyway, but he is just destroying himself by not moving on from this.

That's the price you pay for missing the bandwagon on efficiency by focusing on gas guzzlers.

Remember this post about Yates High School?

Well, Coach Dickhead is at it again, intentionally fouling at the end of a game to try and reach 100 points.

posted by cjets at 03:47 PM on January 22, 2010

That coach is an asshat. I've never heard of a team intentionally fouling the inbounds pass at the end of a 30-point rout to extend their streak of 100-point games.

I like that the opponent, Westbury, anticipated the bad sportsmanship and intentionally slowed down their pace of play to frustrate Yates. If you can't beat 'em, deny 'em a stupid record.

Just read this McGwire article from the onion. Seriously, is there anything that feels better than hitting a no-doubter home run? I haven't hit many but that is the greatest feeling I can think of in sport. Softball homeruns don't count, those feel different.

I've hit a couple golf shots that feel great, enough to make me forget the 100 or so bad ones. Football, meh, haven't played a lot but nothing on a hr's level. Basketball, maybe if I could dunk but I doubt it. Never played hockey or soccer. Stomping a landing on a snowboard jump feels pretty good. Spiking a volleyball is pretty satisfying.

Even I think that is bad sportsmanship.

I had some extras made up this year in anticipation of needing them. So here it is:
