IIHF unveils all Olympic hockey jerseys : On Friday, the International Ice Hockey Federation unveiled the jerseys of the 13 countries participating in the men's and women's ice hockey tournaments at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.

While several nations will play in a similar look as they have at the World Championship, five countries needed adjustments to comply with the rules of the International Olympic Committee as their national associations' logos were not allowed, making the Vancouver jerseys memorable.

China? Who did they have to beat to get in?....Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, all of whom have no teams that I know of. Japan?

Why are these uniforms so boring? They look like throwback jerseys from the 50s, when so many other winter sports like skiing and bobsledding have wild styles. The U.S. Olympic snowboarders are going out there looking like grunge rockers.

I dig the old school look. You're just being asshat, rcade.

I'm with NoMich on that one. Let the noobie sports like snowboarding have their gore tex that looks like beat-up jeans. Hockey is a classic sport and the uniforms reflect it. I liked the Swedish ones.

A uniform can be classic without being boring. These look as if no thought went into them at all.

rcade: Take a closer look at the Canadian crest . The maple leaf is filled with intricate native designs.

Those look great, classic. The Canadian one is much better than I thought it would be.

I mean the alternative in Canada (whuch they were fighting for) was the incredibly boring, corporate, clipart-looking thing they used for the last few years.

Why they don't go back to the iconic 1972 summit series look, I'll never know. Hipsters would eat them up.

China beat Norway, the Czech Republic and Japan to qualify.

China is ranked 7th in the world, in women's hockey, and have finished as high as 4th at the Olympics ('98), and 4th at World Championships ('94 & '97).

IIHF member countries: some might surprise you.
