With all the hoopla about VY and his benching and Tennessee trying to find out if he's their answer at QB...isn't the man something like 24-11 as a starter?
And I guess you can argue "yea, but they win games DESPITE him" and all that, but then you look at 2 separate occasions where the team was playing BADLY without him, then starting winning with him:
2005/2006 Collins goes 5-14, VY takes over and finishes 8-5.
2009 Collins goes 0-6, VY takes over and goes 4-0.
I mean he was even winning when he got benched, wasn't he? Maybe he's a guy who looks bad passing the ball, but just makes plays late when you need them (like last night)? Maybe he's actually a pretty damn good QB, all things considered?

So maybe Vince young is not as bad as we all thought, and Denver is as bad as we all thought.

People like to value QBs based on their yards passing, but Vince Young just seems to be good at winning. I can't believe it took the owner stepping in for Tennessee to make the change when they were struggling this year. They have to be happy with the change now. A major difference has been that Vince Young really seems to open things up for Chris Johnson.

No. They were playing the Jaguars and Vince Young refused to go back in after throwing a second interception and getting loudly booed by the home crowd. Kerry Collins came in, led them to a touchdown, and they won 17-10.
I watched that game, and it was evident that Young was having some kind of mental collapse on the sidelines. He wasn't wrongfully benched at all.

Incredible swim move in a Purdue basketball game.

Vince Young has an elite runner and receiver in the backfield, which helps a guy who tends to panic once in a while a lot. He's been a lot less mistake-prone since he can shovel or dump the ball off instead of forcing a pass. He's also a good runner himself, which seems to be giving opposing defenses fits (having to, essentially, protect against the run on one side and the option on the other).

It was still one game. He didn't have a six-game losing streak that Collins had. Fisher still didn't want to bench Collins after going 0-6.

I think Pete Carroll would definitely agree. In high school and college, he was a man amongst boys on the playing field. His ability to find a way to win, at all levels of the game, has been uncanny.

VY always looked like a winner to me - not the greatest passer, but a guy you wanted in the mix when the game was on the line.
Hope he's over whatever issues he had, and would love to see him take the Titans far this year in his comeback.

IIRC he had won the first game, maybe the first two (albeit ugly) and it was in that 2nd (or 3rd) game where he was benched despite having not really had a "losing" streak (he just wasn't playing well, yet they had won "despite" him in some people's minds). Keep in mind he had went 18-11 in the previous seasons and at least 1-0 that season (maybe 2-0, can't remember)...when he was benched.
So he WAS benched, even though he was putting up W's, which was my point of that particular comment.

BDaddy: Nope. It was the first game of 2008. Saying that he was "winning" is a bit misleading, since Kerry Collins was QB when the Titans got the touchdown that was the margin of victory.

Two or three weeks ago, the Hoser ruminated:
"if the Titans win out..."
then slapped himself around a bit to bring himself back to his senses.
No need for that slappage just yet, it appears.
