This week, Monday Night Football is installing a novel and deeply appreciated viewer mercy rule.
The game will be designated as the first NFL All-Wildcat game. Direct snaps to non-QB's only.
Romo and Delhomme will be running a flag football game with a couple of Scout troops out in the parking lot.

Has anyone seen a college coach as obsessively bonded to a player the way Urban Meyer is with his meal ticket, Tebow?

As a Panthers fan, beaverboard, I wholeheartedly endorse this grand idea. On the other hand, the Panthers' are terrible against the pass, so maybe Romo should be allowed to play 'cause he'll look pretty good. Delhomme, though, can just stay in North Carolina and sit in a Bojangles.

Helluva race it was, too.
One of my longest-standing sport wishes was that cycling was a bit more "television-friendly". Personally, I just cannot get into watching cars drive around and around an oval, but I sure could watch a three-and-a-half-hour bicycle race. This one at just under 7 hours would be a bit much though perhaps.

Cycling is already fairly TV-friendly, isn't it? Even if the race is boring you usually have some pretty scenery to look at.
And TBH, I don't think even die-hard cycling fans would ever watch the entirety of a 7 hour race. Most races - with the exception of the World Championships - only televise the final 1 or 2 hours for good reason.

The Lions. finally. won. a game.
Thank god.

It was shown here on delay following the Singapore F1. I was too tired to wait up for it. Bugger, sounds like a fantastic effort by Evans.
Not enough to make up for his disappointment in last year's TDF, though. That's the one he wants.

Phil Mickelson won his first event since his wife was diagnosed with cancer. Oh, and that Tiger guy still won the FedEx Cup.
Also, the Yankees clinched the AL East.

The "I told you so" of the week: The fears over the selection of Leonardo as manager of AC Milan last summer are becoming reality. The Rossoneri are sitting in the bottom half of the table after a lacklustre scoreless draw at the San Siro against lowly Bari.

Before today's CBS broadcast of Jags-Texans, I was unaware that Torry Holt has a permanently malformed finger on his left hand.

And Oguchi Onyewu has yet to make the field for them, (outside of a crucial "World Football Challenge" appearance).

Preseason NHL shootout weirdness. A player breaks the unwritten rule of doing a close-range slapshot against the opposing goalie.

Had I not moused over the URL, I woulda guessed every Lions receiver since Brett Perriman...
As for that shootout, Jokinen, Edler and Moss woulda had train tickets to Edmonton if they'd tried that under Jack Adams...hope the last Canuck kid makes the team for actually trying...

TO is just awful. In his press conference, he kept repeating "we're going with the plays that are called."
Holt's trophy is pretty gross.

Judging from which finger it is, it looks like he may have gotten it expressing his undying love for an opponent.

Cadel Evans becomes the first Australian to win cycling's road race World Championship. Helluva race it was, too.
