New Cowboys Stadium Features World's Largest HDTV: Just got home from the new $1.15 billion Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, where I saw Chelsea defeat Club America in the deciding game of the World Football Challenge. The stadium is wonder of the world huge, with the world's largest clear-span roof, an interior tall enough to hold the Statue of Liberty, the world's largest retractable roof and the world's largest HDTV, a 160-foot long, 72-foot tall behemoth that has to be seen to be believed. The TV, which showed the match as it happened live, deserves a name of its own. I dubbed it Telemanjaro.

That'd be a great place to play Xbox 360!

I'm having trouble finding a picture that does justice to the TV, which has 30 million light bulbs. It's really a strange experience to watch a live event with a TV in front of you at the same time that's just as good as anything you'd see if you stayed at home. More than once I got sucked into watching the screen and forgetting there was an actual event underneath it.

"Telemanjaro".

That is exceptionally good:)

I hate it already. Bigger != better (in this case, at least) ... even in Texas.

Reminds me of people who tape concerts and spend the entire event listening through their headphones and playing with the dials on their DATs.

I like this picture from the corner seats, in which you can see that the TV spans nearly four decks.

I would hate to play below that behemoth!

Don't worry, terrapin. They'll keep building bigger televisions with higher definition until one day they build a television so big with definition so high that it will DESTROY THEM ALL!!!

They also spent $1. 49 on a large can of WD-40 to use on the K-balls the next time the Seahawks come to visit.

Although, I can understand why rcade liked it. Watching the watchers and all that.

That Xbox video is awesome. I don't even game and it made me want to do it, complete with surround-stadium audio and cheering fans who watch me place my Tetris pieces ever so perfectly.

That aspect was a little frightening at first. Telemanjaro weighs 660 tons. But after the match began, I realized quickly that Telemanjaro loves us and would never do us harm, as long as we keep watching.

Thanks for that pic, DJE ... it really does scale it. WOW! I want one. Is that wrong?

The 360 gameplay on it was just spectacular but just imagine watching the Erin Andrews video on that bad boy!

Anyone else remember a book/movie from early '70s called The Forbin Project? If Colossus ever happens IRL this is the screen from which it will speak to us!

NEW COWBOYS STADIUM FEATURES WORLD'S LARGEST HDTV

Alas, the world's biggest head/ego from the old stadium is featured, too.

Thanks, Jerry.

And the advertisers rejoice! Pregame and Halftime are going to be non-stop strings of ads. Wonder if Jerry will try to throw in 10 second teasers between plays.

A 72-foot-tall Jerry Jones ... sounds like something out of the old Japanese monster movies! That's all right, the Eagles will pop their bubble when they come in!

You actually believing that is the funniest thing I heard this morning!

I've written an ode to Telemanjaro that expands on my comments here.

If you are the kind of person who fought back tears when you cracked open the box to your first HDTV, you need to see it in person.
