This is not a good season for baseball so far. First Adenhart, now Harry Kalas. The old adage is that these things run in threes. I hope not.

... and Mark Fidrych also died today. About Harry: he was like Vin Scully. He wasn't a showman; he wasn't a bigtime homer -- he just got the job done. He left us doing what he loved, in the booth, preparing for a game. At least he got to live to see the ring ceremony last week. Thank you, Harry!

Wow. Harry Kalas has been calling Phillies games since before I was born. I can still remember the video of him giddy as a schoolgirl when the Phillies won it all in '80. A class act, a mesmerizing voice, a true fan. I will remember him forever.

Harry may have one of the most played clips: "There it is!" on Michael Jack Schmidt's 500th home run.
