NFL Will Broadcast Raiders/Chargers in 3D: The Thursday night game on Dec. 4 between the San Diego Chargers and Oakland Raiders will be broadcast live in 3-D to theaters in three cities: Los Angeles, New York and Boston. "We want to demonstrate this and let people get excited about it and see what the future holds," said NFL veep Howard Katz.

Sounds awesome. Wish I was closer to one of these cities.

So the Raider's will stink in 3 dimensions now? I'm not sure I'd want to see that.

When Sandy Climan, 3ality's chief executive officer, shows the footage, "people crouch down to catch the ball," he says. "It's as if the ball is coming into your arms."

3ality has got to be the most goddamn worst company name ever.

Is this the same 3D technology used in BOLT and JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH?

Because I have to tell you, I'm not a fan. The 3D is underwhelming at best. And the glasses give me a headache.

Broadcast a live 60 minute game in less than two fucking hours. Then I'll be impressed.

An alternative headline: "NFL to embrace gimmick used in 1953 Vincent Price film "House of Wax"."

Let me get this right. It's not going to be shown in San Francisco, Oakland or San Diego? If you're going to do this, wouldn't you get a better audience by showing a game with better teams, or teams that actually play in the cities you're showing it in theaters at? Or maybe show games in cities that actually have an NFL team? Dumb.

When we go to the 3-D theaters and hunker down in our seats to watch the game, and we put on the special 3-D glasses and our skin begins to take on a pale, withered appearance due to the daylight deprivation...

By the end of the game, we will all look just like Al Davis.

3D is the future every five years or so.

You know what I do when I want to see something in 3D?

I GO OUTSIDE AND LOOK AT IT!

Of all the things they could do to revolutionize sports broadcasting, and a 50 year old gimmick is the best they can do.

That, my friends, is comedic gold.

"3D is the future every five years or so."

So is this the NFL equivalent to "dippin dots," which have been the "ice cream of the future" for a couple of decades now?
