My best to all in this season. Remember that what is celebrated is the promise that is given to all of us that there is light in the world. No matter what you believe , live up to the tenets of that belief, and the promise will be reality. Peace and Love

I don't know about where all of you folks are, but here in Kansas, the weather outside most definitely is frightful, so we will have a white Christmas. Best wishes to all throughout the holiday season. Safe travels, and here's to a fun and interesting 2008.

Cheers, everyone. Enjoy the season.

I have a beautiful tree and a pleasant buzz. Life is good. God bless us, everyone.

Have a good one folks. It's a hundred down here in the shade, but we're still filling up on good old northern European stodge. I love tradition, and because of that I'm cooking next to a hot stove - everyone else is out by the pool with a drink in their hand.

It's a hundred down here in the shade... Sure, rub it in, owlhouse, it is 26 here in Ohio. Take a break from the stove and hoist a stubby for me. :)

Owlie is funning you stellergirl, it's only 37* where he is. For all my SpoFitian pals, my traditional blessing: May this next year be the best of your life to date and yet the least of all the many yet to come! * Celsius though

Happy Xmas to all at SpoFi.

posted by squealy at 09:21 AM on December 24, 2007

Here's a cool xmas story: one of my nephews lives in Kalamazoo and was hanging out in a bar with some friends the other night. Who should walk into the bar? None other than Derek Jeter and for some reason, singled out my nephew and his friends and hung out with them. Bought them shots n beers and was a really great guy. Pretty neat, hey?

So nice, it had to be said twice. Whatcha doing in Shanghai, Doc?

Besides cursing my lousy internet, you mean? Hanging out, mostly. My girlfriend's mother is a temporary ex-pat here, so we visited for Christmas. Right now it's off to Thailand for something actually resembling a vacation. Although I do have to admit that the entire trip was really just an excuse to get a new laptop.

posted by DrJohnEvans at 02:37 AM on December 26, 2007

Pretty neat, hey? But was he dreamy?

Belated, but sincerely expressed - Hope everything is good where you be.

At this darkest time of the year (for us north-hemispherians), I would like to wish the very best, brightest, most hopeful celebration for all the fine folks who make up the very best website on the internet. Yes, that's you people, each and every one of you. You're a truly special bunch, and I'd like to make some very special wishes for all of us for the coming year:

  • That we all have a year of love, joy, health and peace;
  • That our friends, family, and belief in the good stuff bears us through the tough times in grace and style;
  • That we continue to share our appreciation for the beautiful facet of human endeavor that is sports, and that we all do what we can to add to it, whether that means playing, coaching, writing, supporting, or spectating with our fine Spofi discriminating appreciation;
  • That we make the world better, and that the world makes us better too.
Blessings on you all,

My brain misparsed the second bullet as "belief in the good stuff bears, what? Who are the Good Stuff Bears?" Then I reread it. Merry end of the year to you all.

I see the Good Stuff Bears entering the Fantasy Baseball League next season.

posted by jerseygirl at 04:38 PM on December 26, 2007

Not if they're to be managed by me, jerseygirl. I learned from my lickin'. The Good Stuff Bears will show up for fantasy football season, but the franchise name is available for anyone who wants to use it for baseball.
