Ill be accepting my Costanza award for taking all those bashings all season-long... :(

Dunno if I can pin it on one guy, but having Emeka Okafor sitting injured on my roster for the last month and a half probably didn't help. I mean, I was lousy at the start of the season, climbed up into the top 3 or 4 at some point, and then slid down and out of playoff position. So, Okafor just sat there dragging me down. I held on to him hoping that he'd come back in time to help me, hopefully in the playoffs. But now that looks like a fatal error. Nuts.

A long, long time ago in a league not so far from here there once was a team called SmithersFunshineBear that held the top spot in its fantasy league. *sigh*

Boy, the consolation bracket is freaking miserable!

posted by YukonGold at 07:00 PM on March 26, 2007

Tight race making the playoffs. I was concentrating so hard on keeping the six spot, I didn't realize I'd slipped into 5th. Chris Paul returning to first-round draft form recently has certainly helped. Should be a fun couple of weeks during playoffs. Strap on your helmets, boys, it could get dirty.

Jeez, Kendall really was horrible, wasn't he? And it's not like he wasn't trying; he's got the sixth most transactions in the league. I mean, that is really impressive. Perhaps he should get a platinum Costanza instead of the usual gold. Sprinkled with diamonds and shit, Li'l Jon style.

posted by The_Black_Hand at 05:29 AM on March 27, 2007

Kendall blew out the competition for the Costanza....just a dominating performance. As for the playoffs, who is hurt, who is going to get run down the stretch, who is shutting their players down a bit, who goes on a cold streak at the worst time.....all these to determine a fantasy champion....good luck!!

Hey Ray Allen! Come on down... You're the next contestant on Screwing up my playoff hopes !

posted by YukonGold at 09:19 AM on March 27, 2007

I would have totally screwed up my team if you guys had let me. I tried hard to trade away Chris Bosh, Gerald Wallace, Tracy McGrady and Caron Butler for every kind of broken-down junk like Brad Miller and Sam Cassell.

posted by dusted at 11:33 AM on March 27, 2007

Funny, you never wanted my trash. What gives?

posted by YukonGold at 02:22 PM on March 27, 2007

As hobbled as they are, guys like Miller and Cassell actually have upside if they are healthy. If I remember correctly, the only offer I got from you was Felton... definitely not trash, had a ton of upside (more than I thought), but not what I was looking for at the time.

posted by dusted at 05:22 PM on March 27, 2007

Yeah, I should have saddled you with Lewis...it was still prior to his injury. Who knew? This year was especially brutal with the injuries.

posted by YukonGold at 05:50 PM on March 27, 2007

Yeah, I really wanted Rashard. I was dead last in threes and I would have totally overpaid for him.

posted by dusted at 06:32 PM on March 27, 2007

Damn. I think the last three weeks I won my matchups. Spitz, you'd better make the best of that spot I tried hard to get. Is this the time to start waiving players?

posted by geekyguy at 05:33 AM on March 28, 2007

Well this is just flat out going swimmingly... Al Harrington, Monday night against the Spurs? 0-5 FG, 1 pt, 3 Rebs, 0 AST, 1 TO Chris Paul last night against the Mavs? 1-10 FG, 2 pt, 4 REB, 3 AST, 2 TO It was fun to see the Mavs slaughter the Hornets and sweep the road trip 6-0, but dammit, Fantasy team, this is the time I need you to step up, not mail it in!

posted by Ufez Jones at 09:57 AM on March 28, 2007

Is this the time to start waiving players? I think you're just kidding, but NO. Please don't do that - it will screw up the playoff matches.

I was dead last in threes and I would have totally overpaid for him. Note to self for 2008

I finally got to watch full NBA game tonight ... the Raps trounced the Heat. I was hopin' for some big blocks from Mourning, but my boy Anthony Parker actually lit it up pretty good. I guess I should go look at the stats because I thought that I was the one dead-last in 3PTM???

posted by Spitztengle at 10:18 PM on March 28, 2007

Yeah, you're definitely dead last in 3PTM, but I was giving you some competition in the middle of the season. It was one of those categories I didn't pay any attention to, since I never had a problem in years past. I now see that I had some guys that shot a LOT of threes (Marion, Luther Head and a few others).

The mbd1/Flying Elbows IV versus Ufez/DoristheFinkasaurus matchup is going to be good.

posted by dusted at 12:03 PM on March 29, 2007

Yeah it is. I'm banking on that Golden State/Phoenix matchup tonight to be a barn burner -- the over/under on sportsbook.com is 225.5 with PHX a measly 4 point favorite! Sadly, I won't be able to watch it as I've got alternate plans. I'll be keeping an eye via the cellphone, though. It's pretty essential in both my leagues.

posted by Ufez Jones at 05:51 PM on March 29, 2007

JRich shoots 13 threes and makes 8 of them, getting close to an unconventional triple double. Oakland out-Phoenixed Phoenix.

the over/under on sportsbook.com is 225.5 with PHX a measly 4 point favorite If you had Phoenix and the under.....YOU LOST! since I'm not in the playoffs I'm comfortable saying...nice pick up with JRich.

posted by YukonGold at 10:11 AM on March 30, 2007

Heh. Baron Davis was two rebounds and two TO's away from an unconventional quadruple double. Dwight Howard got the unconventional points, rebs, TO's triple doulbe for me a couple of weeks back. Yeah, I've pretty much given up on the TO category this season. It's okay, though. I'm still in it for at least three more days. On edit: If you had Phoenix and the under.....YOU LOST! Heh, nah, I don't gamble on basketball (just the occasional NFL parlay) but I'm not surprised at all to see Nellie out coach Mike, Dan, and Tony in a run and gun matchup. Looks like it would've been a fun game to watch, though. If Golden State could somehow work their way up to the 7 seed, Suns and Warriors in the first round would be a compelling matchup.

I assumed that Bring Down the Nasty would easily beat assclowns (since assclowns hasn't been setting his lineup and was beaten by the same team a week ago), but it's now 4-5 assclowns. And mbd1/Flying Elbows IV versus Ufez/DoristheFinkasaurus is still too close to call. Good stuff!

posted by dusted at 12:28 PM on March 31, 2007

Yeah, looking at Stat-Tracker, it'll likely boil down to FT% and blocks for mbd1 and I. We both have full lineups, tomorrow, though, so if I have a *really* good day points or rebounds-wise and he has a *really* craptacular day, one of those could flip. Should be good. I'll be more focused on grilling fajitas for my buddies and watching the Mavs/Suns game, but once I clear those drunks out, I'll come check back.

posted by Ufez Jones at 11:26 PM on March 31, 2007

Yep, I'll be keeping an eye on it too...all 4 matchups are 5-4 going into the final day of games.

posted by mbd1 at 07:48 AM on April 01, 2007

Blast it, mbd1! And on top of a (meaningless) Mavs loss to boot. At least I advanced in my F2F league (face to face....people I know in real life). Good show, mate. Please proceed to kill Maude Lebowski (and the little dude inside her)!

posted by Ufez Jones at 11:29 PM on April 01, 2007

Flying Elbows and I beat each other 6-3 during the season, but had different looking teams back then. Yao is hot for them right now and I have tweaked my roster -- best of luck!!

Ouch. Caron Butler breaks his hand at the worst possible time.
