CFL Pick 'Em, Division Finals: While lots of points were run up on the Canadian gridiron this weekend, the same cannot be said for our little pool. We thought about increasing the size of the nets to increase scoring, but decided instead to inject an extra bonus question. Make your picks inside.

So, yeah. Those were some pretty good games to watch.

So, yeah. A six-way tie for first place. Can't comment much on that. Thank goodness this ain't a one-week deal.

East Final: Toronto @ Montreal (Sunday, November 12, 1:00 PM Eastern) Everybody saw this match-up coming, but not quite in this light. Quarterback questions abound, with Anthony Calvillo coming off an inconsistent year, and Damon Allen getting yanked in favour of backup Michael Bishop to turn the tide in the Argo's semifinal win. We should see a good running game, with a strong Robert Edwards for Montreal and the infamous Ricky Williams/John Avery setup in the Toronto backfield. Other than that, I have no idea what to think about this game. West Final: Saskatchewan @ B.C. (Sunday, November 12, 4:00 PM Eastern) B.C. is often accepted as the best team in the league, and I have to admit I really don't know how they put together so many wins. QB Dave Dickenson strikes me as increasingly fragile, having spent, what, half the season on the bench? Backup Buck Pierce has shown flashes of brilliance, but he's still young. Still, B.C. is good. Saskatchewan is increasingly intriguing. They manufactured a nice comeback in Calgary, which should give them a boatload of confidence, which may be all they need to push them over the top. QB Kerry Joseph has the talent and the tools, but can he keep translating that into points? Bonus Question Name the quarterback who will have the most passing yards this weekend. Here are the CFL's 2006 Passing Leaders. Super Bonus Guess how many yards will be thrown by that most proficient passing QB this weekend. You don't have to get the Bonus right to qualify for the Super Bonus, and you get the point if you're within +/- 5 of the actual total. Possible points: 8. 3 per game + Bonus + Super Bonus.

Cuttin' and pastin' from the other thread - Day-yam, oh but the CFL delivered the goods on Saturday. Those were two stupifyingly entertaining wack job games. Seriously, Pinball might, in fact, be a leprechaun because someone on that sideline is granting wishes. (I know Pinball is small and everything, but really look. Yep. Possible Leprchaun. And really, it's a fantastic disguise.) How else to explain Michael Bishop? I wouldn't screw with that kind of mojo. Even on the road in Montreal. In a revenge game. Toronto by 6 And - B.C. by 8. Because they have unicorns in the ball bin. Swear to God. Super awesome grum-and-I-are-currently-tied-for-first-in-the-hockey-pool mega bonus - Calvillo Mega-mega-bonus - Precisely 396 yards in a losing effort.

Home teams will grind out victories. Montreal by 7 BC by 12 Calvillo 296 yards* * Hey, how come they don't use metres in the CFL?

as the Costanza winner of the regular season pick 'em, I thought I better give myself a shot at a string of Costanzas by not submitting my picks last week ;) Toronto by 11 (Damon Allen will retire as MVP of the Grey Cup ... just watch) Saskatchewan by 1 (Congi on a last-play FG) Bonus: Allen Super Bonus: 286 yards

posted by Spitztengle at 06:59 PM on November 07, 2006

Spitz, I think not submitting picks automatically disqualifies you from the costanza.

That's good ... I never want to "win" another one of those again! Honestly though, I was away at a conference and had limited internet access to submit my picks (smithers can even vouch for me). I don't know if submitting them would have yielded any different result though??? This CFL is a wacky league! Must be why I love it so much!?!? The Costanza is all yours if you want it, apoch ;)

I'd much rather win the pool than the costanza.

Too late for the edit: How kooky is it that both the Ray Milland and the Rosie Grier in the Argos' two-headed rushing attack are former Miami Dolphins? Weird, wild stuff.

posted by The_Black_Hand at 08:48 PM on November 11, 2006

Arland Bruce of the Argos has said that the refs were racist ... that's why they lost. Does this mean I get points?

posted by Spitztengle at 11:38 AM on November 13, 2006

I thing I should get .25 points for nailing Anthony Calvillo's passing yards.
