Web Sites Take a Gamble: If you've been wondering why Sporting News Radio is running ads against Internet gambling all the time, I wrote a story for Wired News that explains why. The feds are pursuing prosecution of web sites and other media that advertise online sportsbooks, poker rooms and Internet casinos. SportsFilter gets offers from them fairly frequently.

Self-link. A timely one at that: I've started hearing those ads on our local affiliate and they sound like the work of people who reminded teachers they forgot to assign homework. How come the "Also by this author" returns a 404? Does Wired want me working on Friday afternoon?

That's broken, for some reason. I just started freelancing for them. My other pieces were on Damon Wayans' Nigga trademark and the center of the world (i.e. Coffeyville, Kansas).

Did Wired cough up for the trip to Amsterdam to cover the conference?

Thanks rcade, I listen to SNR all the time and wondered what happened that forced them to start tunning these PSA's.

Amsterdam's not a nice place off your face.

Yeah, whatev. The real burning question is, does rcade have his "GoldenPalace.com" back tattoo yet?

Did Wired cough up for the trip to Amsterdam to cover the conference? Yep. But a prostitute stole my notes, so I had to quote from the convention's web site.

Either that or you were too stoned to remember where you put your notes.

Love the piece on trademarking "nigga". I had hoped to do the same thing by trademarking and launching a clothing line based around the word "cracker", but it turns out L.L. Bean's been doing it for years.
