Auntie Climax: It looks like this year's SpoFi March Madness pool is all over but for the crying. RainBigBaby cannot be caught....it is just a matter of how big an ass-kicking the final score is. We do, however, need an official ruling on the Costanza....more inside.

By the way, some guy named Tim McKenna called the Final Four and is in first place in the Yahooniverse.

Re: Costanza -- JJ Redick's Diarrhea Problem picked all of the lower seeds to advance in the entire bracket, while goddam and Everett were truly terrible. (Not that I was so shit hot myself.) What to do?

I'd give to goddam+everett. Costanza loses it's appeal if people are trying to get it. I was doing so good(not costanza good, the other kind of good. Like good good) until thursday, and then sunday drove the nail in the coffin.

I would like to take this opportunity to point out, humbly, that I won this thing last year. Thanks to ying yang mafia for setting it up.

I'd think that anybody picking all the lower seeds was not actually trying to win the pool (at least under the yahoo scoring system) and thus is not within the spirit of refined and honest loserdom that the Costanza celebrates. so, congrats to everett and goddam. Now the question is should the wording on the Costanza reflect that it is being shared?

If you're looking for a tiebreaker, Everett only had 1 team in the Elite 8 and goddam had 2

posted by YukonGold at 01:23 PM on March 27, 2006

Right, but goddam is a Yankees fan. So now they're tied again.

Hey you guys are giving up awful early. I am only 30 points out. Doesn't this thing go on forever? I am still in it till the final net is cut down. Congrats Rainbaby. I think both should get the Costanza. It doesn't cost anything more to post the award to two people instead of one.

Hey you guys are giving up awful early. There is a scenario generator that lets you see how the whole thing will play out depending on which teams win future games. Unless I botched it, there is no way rainbaby can be caught.

I am JJ Redick's Diarrhea Problem and I did indeed do my picks as a joke. Absolutely no Costanza Award consideration for me.

That was pretty shitty of you, NoMich.....or poetic....I'm not sure which. ;)

I am JJ Redick's Diarrhea Problem I'm sure he'd like to know that.

I should have utilized coin flips to decide each pairing...couldn't have done any worse. (that is a little too "Two Face" for my taste though).

Thank you smithers for putting up this thread, I was going to do it but you've saved me some trouble. As for the profile banners, if someone could set those up and get them to the winners and losers, I'd appreciate it since if that becomes my job it will never happen. As for the Costanza winner, I'd like your input on whether it should be a tie or not. If not a tie, Yukon's tiebraker will be used. Congrats to rainbaby for your apparent win. I think that Tim guy must be paying off teams because with all that has happened, to pick the Final Four is a real achievement.

Unless there's a Costanza shortage we might as well give the "award" to both of them.

posted by tron7 at 05:46 PM on March 27, 2006

Give them both the award. The same thing happened in the NFL playoff pool, and that was the result.

My pleasure, YYM....saved me from doing 10 minutes of real work. "Costanza shortage"....(snicker)...We certainly don't want anyone to feel short changed. I say Tie.

Dang, The Spartans lose in the first round (granted it was the start of GMUs great run), my bracket gets blown to hell in the first weekend, and I can't even get the freakin' Costanza....I demand a recount.....are we sure Tenessee beat Winthrop??

posted by elovrich at 11:14 PM on March 27, 2006

Hey hey HEY! What's this about diluting the legacy of the Costanza? You can't just give those things away like they're some sort of easily-copied booby-prize .jpg for everyone who decided to go with the favorites (or whatever) and tanked in the later rounds. Actually, I guess you can. Never mind.

Didn't rainbaby kick our ass at fantasy football too?

posted by danostuporstar at 06:53 AM on March 28, 2006

Why yes, thank you dano, she did. The lady covets a banner or two or three! You guys are fun. Strangely, this is the only place I've ever had any luck with the NCAA hoops. I'll tell you my secret methodology when it's all over.

posted by rainbaby at 07:42 AM on March 28, 2006

I'm pretty okay with my results considering that I didn't see a single game this year. As much as the Chinese love the NBA, and they do, they just don't get NCAA. Congrats rainbaby.

So wait, do I win the costanza or not? I've never won anything... or wait, I did once I think, but I'm sure I've never lost at anything... except at Connect Four' I'm horrible at that fucking game.

I putting up a new thread about it right now.
