2004 World Series Predictions: Because we woke up the morning after the Red Sox beat the Yankees, and somehow, baseball was still being played.

No, no. Cardinals in a heart-breaking, gut-crushing, spirit-stomping seven, you meant.

I'm not going to guess. In another forum, someone asked for ALCS predictions, I said: Yankees in six. Riot at eleven. I was wrong about the former and, sadly, right about the latter. So I'm not predicting. I'm just going to stay well clear of Boston until the snow flies.

Red Sox in seven. I figure it'll be like the Series in 1987 and 1991, with the home team winning all the games.

My brain says Cardinals in 6. Their batting lineup is stronger. Their pitching is more consistant (and not overworked). They have a better manager. My brain has been right most of the time. As a not-so-wise man once said: "Shut up, brain, or I'll stab you with a Q-tip! Red Sox in 7.

Results from Round 2: The following people were correct (Boston, St.Louis): grum@work emoeby trox jasonspaceman Ufez Jones rocketman WeedyMcSmokey jerseygirl The closest to perfect would be rocketman as he guessed Boston in 7 and St.Louis in 6. In the end, EVERYONE picked the Cards, and 8 of 15 of us chose Boston.

I'm more than happy to let grum crunch the numbers (thanks, man!) but I'm leaving town in an hour and wanted to get my prediction in. Which is the same as '46 and '67: Cardinals in seven.
