i felt the same way on monday when spofi was inoperational. I spent most of the day checking back to see if spofi up. it was a weird 'withdrawl' feeling.

i don't even like the FP MeFi much anymore. it over-evolved. too many rules, too many restrictions... "dont post about general news" "don't post about bush, but if you do, you better hate him" "don't post about iraq" "we're not telling you what pancakes mean, loser" "what? you have a 5 digit user number? get lost, you might as well have a communicable oozing disease." "don't post about sports here, go to SpoFi where the sports fools go. and by the way, if you like sports, you're obviously a closeted male chauvenist, serial kitten killer who likes violence and probably beats their child; you probably voted for bush, support the war; like your gas guzzling SUV; and don't support the cause of the native east costa rican homeless tribe people because you buy inorganic bananas and Proctor and Gamble products." too much politics over there. way too much. i just really enjoy the AskMeFi.

I hate intellectual snobs. Much like I hate music snobs, said the reformed music snob. jgirl, I was gonna ask you to post some AskMeFi favs b/c I never venture into metaland, but that place is broken, so, yeah....warm today, ain't it?

I've never had a MeFi ID, but I love reading the snarky flamewars on MetaTalk. It's the best part of the site -- watching carefully crafted personas bleat at each other. Like pro wrestling, but with better writing.

SpoFi: home of serial kitten killers

Dunno about that jeff, I think Chris Jericho could hang there (hell they already stole his "Assclown" there). But yeah, MetaTalk is the best part...except it is getting pretty predictable nowadays as far as what comment will piss who off and right down to the topic selections (the latest fave being the "Can we please..." whine).

Jericho can and should hang there. It'd be much more interesting. I'd love to hear him refer to some Washingtonian like myself as the "Ayatollah of Granola."

goddam, I just killed another kitten, thanks for the reminder.

The green is great.....I must have checked 10 times today to see if it was up.

BTW, I found this page which has more info on why MeFi has been down. The current guesstimate is that it may be down at least until the weekend.

This is *not* good news. Any chance you lot might start arguing amongst yourselves over pointless inanities? I miss my MeTa fix.

i'd like to think right about now, they'd all be screaming at each other about gay marriage.
posted by jerseygirl at 01:54 PM on February 12, 2004
No, no - they'd all be agreeing with each other and screaming at the token conservatives.

JG: Given the server's Boston location, I'm thinking it's a conspiracy by people who don't want that discussion to happen until after the voting is over. TFH Time, people!

the server is in boston?
posted by jerseygirl at 02:21 PM on February 12, 2004
The MeFi server moved from NYC to Boston last year. If you were a *real* MeFite you'd know that. Who are you and what have you done with jg?
posted by squealy at 03:44 PM on February 12, 2004
been a mefite for a while, just never really followed it until they added AskMe. you can only take so much anti-politics, anti-windows, anti-everyone banter. plus, work was blocking MeFi for a while there. i heard the server used to be a yankee fan but abandoned ship for a better team in boston. 7 days until pitchers and catchers report. just 7 more days! *twitch*

you guys better win the WS this year. I want to be alive and partying when the curse is broken.

me too. there's a quote on redsoxnation.net that summarizes the red sox. "First they killed our grandfathers, then they killed our fathers, and now they are coming after us."
posted by jerseygirl at 04:14 PM on February 12, 2004
If that's true, jerseygirl, they should have killed your grandfathers before they produced offspring and saved themselves some work.

rcade, be serious, these people are killers not efficiency experts.
