Yeah! We can celebrate at billsaysthis' BBQ on the 27th! See you there. Now, how long before Spike TV (The Men's channel aka TNN aka bunch of yokels who can't manage a channel rebranding) covers the SpoFi?

posted by worldcup2002 at 01:07 AM on July 12, 2003

I can see the commercial for Spofi on Spike TV now.... Squealy: I like writing about sports! wee! Samsonov: I like *drunken belch* reading about sports.

Hey. Very cool. I promise to be on my best behavior. No, wait. I'll have to do better than that. I'll be on somebody elses behavior.

posted by vito90 at 11:55 AM on July 12, 2003

Jerseygirl, how about you, RomaKimmy, and the other SpoFiettes dressing up as cheerleaders for the commercial? I am willing to play the fat drunk guy passed out on the floor.

posted by billsaysthis at 12:01 PM on July 12, 2003

Can the girls just not wear anything at all? I'd waive my appearance fee for the commercial, if that were the case.

posted by worldcup2002 at 02:07 PM on July 12, 2003

Wow, are you sure we're not going to be the FHM site of the day?

posted by wfrazerjr at 11:39 PM on July 13, 2003

Eight? EIGHT?!? We are a 10, damn it! Bo Derek worthy!

posted by wfrazerjr at 09:15 AM on July 14, 2003

We probably got busted down for lack of graphics, flash or fancy-shmancy pull-down menus. And no readily-available pictures of hot chicks. What this "award" means is that we are soon going to be overrun by a fresh crowd of members. Some will be good, some will be bad, but no matter what, the moderators/panthenon will have to be on the look out for potential abuse.

posted by grum@work at 09:42 AM on July 14, 2003

Abuse? I came here for an argument!

posted by wfrazerjr at 10:29 AM on July 14, 2003

I'm willing to bet our numbers don't go up much at all. This is the first time I've even heard of the *drunken belch* askmen.com site of the day.

posted by Samsonov14 at 11:31 AM on July 14, 2003

Yeah. Any "men's magazine" is pretty lame, if you ask me. Except if it has nice, erm, pictures. But I wouldn't look at them for anything else. C'mon. Askmen.com? This is about as cool as Spike TV. I wouldn't even go to AskME.com! btw, Samsonov14, if you'll forgive me, are you up for a SpoFi Locker Room interview? Let me know.

posted by worldcup2002 at 12:13 PM on July 14, 2003

The 19th is also a Saturday, which are usually slower days for web sites. Here's hoping we get some good members and can keep any potential dicks, erm, tucked away.

"And no readily-available pictures of hot chicks." On the contrary...

posted by StarFucker at 02:43 PM on July 14, 2003

Who's the hottie?

posted by billsaysthis at 04:01 PM on July 14, 2003

Thats Diane Lane...

posted by StarFucker at 04:03 PM on July 14, 2003

What, from 10 or 15 years ago?!?!?! She was SOOOO hot in Streets of Fire!

posted by billsaysthis at 06:53 PM on July 14, 2003

she's still hot. duh.

posted by jerseygirl at 07:28 PM on July 14, 2003

Killer. But that wasn't from Askmen.com, was it?

posted by worldcup2002 at 11:29 PM on July 14, 2003

Sure, she is, but what does she have to do with sports? We need more Anna, Venus, and Mia!!!

posted by billsaysthis at 11:38 PM on July 14, 2003

billy, what do cheerleaders have to do with sports...oh yeah, we like them with our sports. SF, more pics!!!

posted by garfield at 03:06 PM on July 15, 2003

Diane Lane starred in Judge Dredd with Sylvester Stallone. Sly, of course, played the part of Rocky in all of those movies. Rocky was a boxer. Boxing is a sport. See, Diane has everything to do with sports.

86, my best friend is very close with a man who is good friends with Dustin Hoffman who made a movie with Robert DiNiro who played Jake Lamotta in Raging Bull, therefore I have everything to do with sports.

posted by billsaysthis at 04:55 PM on July 15, 2003

bill: you're about six degrees of separation from sports. Diane Lane is about two degrees. Therefore, Diane Lane is more sports than you.

Hey! No way! I went to high school with a guy who almost made it on the pro tennis tour back in the '80s!!!

posted by billsaysthis at 07:32 PM on July 15, 2003

Last year, I got the autographs of Varitek, Damon, Luis Tiant and Dwight Evans all on the same ball. and then one time, my boyfriend saw Jose Offerman at Best Buy. I am sports.

posted by jerseygirl at 08:53 PM on July 15, 2003

i wish i went to high school in the 80s. All that new wave, all that flock of seagulls hair... sigh.

posted by jerseygirl at 08:54 PM on July 15, 2003

I played ball with two current or former major leaguers — Jason Boyd (of the Indians) and Mark Little (triple-A Diamondbacks). I also regularly drank beer with Paul Wight before his WWE fame. Oh, and Steve Yeager hit me in the neck with a ball at Busch Stadium when I was nine. The bastard.

posted by wfrazerjr at 09:16 PM on July 15, 2003

P.S. — Jgirl, two things: 1) I was a freshman in 1985. Someday I'll post my team picture, with my automatically tinting glasses and my disco Dan haircut... priceless. 2) Flock of Seagulls sucked nuts. Haircut 100, baby!

posted by wfrazerjr at 09:18 PM on July 15, 2003

*drunken belch* You're not a man until you've killed a man. Or a hobo. Either way.

posted by Samsonov14 at 10:25 PM on July 15, 2003

Ha, lightweights. I used to be big drinking buddies will Danny Murphy's brother Darryl when I was at college. And I used to live on the same street as Andy Cole's mum and dad. Think squealy, think football.

posted by squealy at 04:44 AM on July 16, 2003

Looking forward to the picture. Haircut 100 was good was no Kajagoogoo my man. :)

Kajagoogoo, the folks who brought you Limahl and the theme from "The Neverending Story." and WC2002, isn't Making It Big what got George Michael in trouble on that beach a few years back? <<< diehard Thomas Dolby fan

posted by wfrazerjr at 11:03 AM on July 16, 2003

80s, feh! I'm still waiting for a band that made (or makes) it's first record after 1980 that's worth listening to, song after song, record after record. Everyone after U2 and REM blows chunks!

posted by billsaysthis at 11:06 AM on July 16, 2003

How do i know?! I did a GIS for women's sports and thats what came up... Why do you feel dirty? Thats a clear indication of desire Ufez...

posted by StarFucker at 11:10 AM on July 16, 2003

wfrazerj: Hahahahahahaha. Good one. I wondered it anyone would get that. Was that beach incident the same one where Mr Michael was arrested for propositioning a male plainclothes cop in a restroom? Mr Michael is a freak, I give you that, but when it comes to music, he's a super freak. (I put him in the same league as Little Richard and Rick James.)

By the way, Bill, are you old enough to be a curmudgeon?

posted by wfrazerjr at 02:40 PM on July 16, 2003

I am. Age is irrelevant to curmudgeonry, I was labeled as one at college. But you accuse without pointing to an example of who meets my standard.

wfrazerjr: hahahahah, that's a classi ... hey, StarFooker, it's the UNCW Soccer Team Leadership Award Winners!:

Jennie Finch has a much prettier face than Anna. Plus, Jennie wins... and knows A-Rod. weeeee! a-rod! *swoon*

Jennie Finch plays the wrong sport...

posted by StarFucker at 08:39 AM on July 18, 2003

Since when does which sport matter? We're only concerned, after all, with hot female athletes. I think Finch is okay but some of her teammates (on the 2003 Cup photos) are hotter.

posted by billsaysthis at 01:09 PM on July 18, 2003

Wait, what sport does Finch play?

posted by StarFucker at 02:42 PM on July 18, 2003

Let's not forget Sharapova. AVN's, I mean, ATP's newcomer of the year.

Who's Jennie Finch?
