Also, in that thread, iconomy and jerseygirl discussed the presence of women on SportsFilter, and I decided, in fairness of balancing out the occasional Kournikova-esque link, to offer this to the women (and men...not that there's anything wrong with that).

It will be interesting to see what happens after the world cup, given the dominace of sports that can only be of interest to those living in North America. Do you think I could interest anyone in a discussion on cricket?

Came for the sports, slogged through the WC -- I tried, I really tried to get into soccer, and failed. Now, it's time for Le Tour. And then a crazed mix of NFL, college football, and La Vuelta, which is already mixing things up with some interesting new ideas (scroll to the fourth headline on that page).

I have a question too - is there a list of categories somewhere? I click on "soccer" and see all the soccer links, but is there a page with all the categories listed (I can't post yet or I guess I would see them all in a drop down menu on the Add a Post page)? What are the categories?

"Other" is not a sport either ;-) A catch-all category for motorsports would be useful, IMHO, in the same way that extreme sports are grouped under "extreme".

dg: Be careful what you ask for, dg. With the US-centric bias round here, you'll probably get the Godawful 'autosports' category.
