1. Brazil 2. Germany 3. Turkey 4. Korea Korea has gone too far. I think their luck has run out. Turkey could take this and is a better team than Germany but they are on the wrong side and will get knocked out by Brazil.

The mexicans, I am afraid to say, are seeming to lack coordination in this game. Well-deserved goals for the U.S.

Same as worldcup2002 - I'm in the same time zone (san francisco). I've been watching all the games on Univision. I do speak Spanish. I've always found the Spanish announcers to be more genuinely enthusiastic about the game. They have actually toned it down since the days of Andres when the narration was often overly dramatic. I remember exclamations like "Ay! Donde esta SIL-VA!" for a mere midfield pass. Basically, less analysis, more emotional outbursts - perhaps its just a Latin thing. I've watched most of the 11:30 games but 4:30 am is just too much, except for the, um, semifinals and finals for which I will have to drink much, much coffee.

I just love watchin the senegalese do their co-ordinated dance/victory celebration. I left a hapennin party here in SF to watch the match. Glad i did. So many close calls on either side but Senegal played the better game and deserved their win. They are stylish players and seeing them play against Brazil (I hope) should make for a beautiful game.

Mexico AND Italy, two of my favorite teams will advance! I am celebrating today.

grum I had done the same calculations. It should be interesting. Note that for Mexico to advance first all they have to do is tie. Also, Ecuador has a chance of advancing only if Mexico beats Italy. i.e. Ecuador is the only team that does not have its fate entirely in its hands, as they say. Anyways, yes, it should be interesting.

There is some indication that the Argentinians love "futbol" the sport as much as or more than its nationalistic incarnation.

The math is just as tricky for most of the other groups. In Group G, for example, Ecuador could still emerge from the round (Mex beats Italy, Ec beats Croatia with a good goal differential in both games) And, after the Korea-U.S. tie, Group A is a free-for-all.

or, rather why are comments labeled PST, threads in the locker room labeled MST and threads in sportsfilter labeled CST?
