"Apart from the tango and football, there are few things in Argentina at the moment to pin our hopes on. ... Poverty is good for nothing, except for playing football.": Is this the thinking that will spur Argentina to a win, and progress to the second round? Or will it be yet another addition to the recent spate of Argentinian disappointments? Who escapes from the Group of Death?

Guess it was Sweden's day after all. This Argentina's earliest ejection from the tournament since 1962, they say.

Wow, can't blame Argentina for lack of trying. Lack of finishing, maybe. Woeful, woeful finishing. In fact, they may have lost 3-1 if Cavallero hadn't been in the way of the defender's deflection (I don't think the keeper even realized he'd made a save until the ball had bounced off him), or Jonsonn's (I think it was him) attempt hadn't hit the post.

There is some indication that the Argentinians love "futbol" the sport as much as or more than its nationalistic incarnation.
