I remember, many years ago, a South American under-21 tourney was decided by the amount of corners taken by each team...
I believe this only applied to the finals and actually, if I remember correctly, one of the teams won, so there was no need to use this tie-breaker.
I believe this makes it for a more exciting game; very often in over-time, teams are so tired they are just killing time waiting for the shoot-out.
And the pk's are pretty much like a flip of a coin, anyway.... Nerve-racking to watch, but not very fair, IMO

Adelman had Artest when he was coaching the Kings. So he should know how much of a pain he is or isn't. If he agrees on the trade, I believe they should be fine. At least they will know what they're getting into... I believe Artest, finally, has matured and his off the court antics are a thing of the past. The last couple of years he has behaved well and he will thrive with the Rockets. Good move by them!

It all started last year. The Mets blew a 7 game lead with 17 to go. And the same symptoms appeared again this season: a decent starting pitching; horrible relievers that couldn't hold a lead; a closer that couldn't close; and a decent offense for the first four innings and nothing after that. No fire, no come from behind fight. They have blown so many leads during games, but nothing the other way around. I like Randolph, but this was the right move at the right time. The Mets are not too far off the lead to make a run for it with so many games remaining. They had no chance with him at the helm. Now they have one. It's up to them if they make it or not. Personally, I believe they will make it. They have a better team than the Phillies. Time will tell.

I would expect that Wagner and Wright would be talking to the media more often just for the fact that are American born players. Foreign players that struggle with English don't make public appearances on English-language TV or radio that often. Of course, this should happen either when the team wins or loses.

Also, the Chargers traded 2004 No. 1 overall pick, Eli Manning, for the 4th pick, Phillip Rivers. I'm not sure how that's working out for them considering that Eli just won a Super Bowl and all, but they didn't have much of a choice since Manning didn't want to play in San Diego. I think Phillips is not all that bad himself, so I conclude they did OK given the circumstances.

He will get paid until the end of his contract. So, the good thing for him is that he can spend the holidays with his family, instead of maybe being on the road, and receives his salary as if he was fully working. Not too bad...

Saltalamacchia might improve defensively, but his offense makes up in large part for any deficiencies. I know nothing about his ability to handle pitchers or call a game. Does this mean that Bobby Cox, or whomever he designates, will end up calling the pitches from the dugout? I didn't know Bobby Cox was included in the deal to Texas also...

Something I might be missing, but why is it so important the 57%? I know that there's a large difference with the 44% of the previous 2 years, but do they always have to bet on the "over"? Couldn't they just have done one "over" followed by one "under" and so forth, so as the average would stay close to 50% and it wouldn't have raised a flag? The guy all he had to do was to remember when to "whistle a lot" and when to "swallow the whistle". Am I wrong?

You say Steve Nash's back hurts? How about Horry's back? I'm sure it's hurting even more, after all those taps from Spurs' coaches and players... 'Adda boy... Good job...That's the way to do it'... Next series, let's see... Hmmm, how about Oberto on Boozer, for example? But it has to be done closer to oposing team's bench, so as to make it close to impossible for some of those bench players no to react. Well, practice makes perfect!

When Raja Fuckin Bell can get away with slapping the greatest player on the planet in the 4th quarter of a playoff game, people should start worrying about the integrity of the game. You're saying that it would've been OK slapping any other player??? You LA guys are so full of it...
