I would much rather see him go all the way to the unemployment line. He is a sorry excuse for a sports journalist. I can't stand listening to him.
And bdaddy don't let time warner fool you. The nfl wants cable to offer NFL Network as part of its regular package and Cable wants to charge an extra fee for it. So the NFL is staying away from Cable.

a better use of time for the Department of Justice would be to investigate Tim Geithner and other crooks appointed by Obama. If they are going to investigate the BCS why not investigate the NFL they don't include teams from the CFL and UFL in their championship games either. So look at it as the BCS is the NFL and Non BCS Conferences are the CFL and UFL.

I go with B as well. Look at the last couple of decades at the big names that get away with penalties in Basketball. Jordan, Kobe, Shaq, and now james. Jordan I would say got away with more violations than anyone ever. James is coming in a close second.

You could use the NIT and the NCAA combined to do this without expanding the season. You could devide all the teams that would be invited to the 2 tournaments evenly between the two. Instead of the top 64 going into the NCAA and the others that go into the NIT. NCAA tourny would take the number 1 ranked team and NIT number 2 ranked team and so on down the line. would be more like the playoffs in the Pros. With NIT being one conference and NCAA being the other conference and the two winners playing eachother for National Title.
posted by twgibsr at 11:10 AM on January 21, 2010
Instead of expanding the NCAA tourny why not have the winner of the NIT and the NCAA play each other for the National title. That way you are basically expanding the NCAA tourney to include more teams with out expanding the schedule. The 2 current tournaments are usually played at the same time anyway.

kirkaracha. I wouldn't look to closely at the vikings being ranked number 2 defense against the run considering the teams they played this year. When they actually played a team with a good running game they gave up TONs of yardage. Carolina Ran all over them. Vikings barely hung on to the number 2 seed. And Brett Favre at qb does not make them a better team. It stops their progress from last year actually. Who does the vikings have to step up when Favre is knocked out. Vikings have not faced a defense like the cowboys all year. The closest thing to it they faced was the way Carolina played and we know what happened there.

if the HOF voters do not vote McGwire in then they should not vote Barroid Bonds in either.
posted by twgibsr at 10:34 PM on January 11, 2010
Unlike Bonds at least McGwire never denied using them. He refused to answer questions about it. And under the 5th ammendment he has that right. At least he finally has come clean again something you will never see berroid bonds do. You do not go from being the skinny little outfielder to a bulking muscle man in the few months of the offseason the way bonds did with out taking steroids.

As long as Snyder owns this team they will not win a playoff game let alone make it to the SB.

I don't care who Washington hires as long as Dan Snyder is the owner they are not going to do anything.

Yea, that is very odd. I guess you could argue it could be common since the NFL tries to get their marquee division matchups the last week of the season (like Eagles vs Cowboys) so one being a wildcard might mean meeting again the following week....but 2 of the 3 games are interconference which makes it more odd.
I believe they'll be more exciting this week because I think all teams were sort of not wanting to show their hand realizing the potential of meeting these guys again (if not this week then shortly after). For example, you know Cinci didn't show NYJ anything remotely similar to a polished gameplan since they had nothing to play for.
posted by bdaddy at 09:30 AM on January 04
This may have been the case in some of these games but not all them. Why would filthydelphia shegirls not show their hand when they have a chance to win the #2 seed and a bye plus a homegame? they were just plain out dominated by the better team this past week.

Revenue sharing is the same as spreading the wealth. If my business is worth more than your business why should I have to give you money to subsidize your business? The Salary cap is what is supposed to keep teams even. Not one team having to pay for the players of another team.

The argument about the extra games is Bull. The Basketball season is longer than Football. And they have a playoff system.
posted by twgibsr at 09:43 PM on December 07, 2009
This year is a good example of why a play off system needs to be installed. Of course it never will because of the money these powerful conferences recieve from the current system. Had the teams from the powerful conferences all had one loss you still would not have seen TCU, CINCI or Boise state have an opportunity to play for the title. It would have come down to 2 one loss teams from the other conferences.

I still don't believe Texas deserves to play for the National Championship. They barely beat Nebraska. And you look at the other games that they played that were close. Give TCU or Cinci. or Boise state the oportunity in my opinion. I don't believe any of them actually have a chance against the best of the SEC.

I don't consider Minnesota to be an elite team. Look at the teams that they have played. only 3 of those teams have a winning record and if you consider that those 3 are only 1 game above .500. Minnesota has beaten the teams that they are supposed to beat that is all.
Outside of New England, you could make the same accusation towards Indy, but it's more the manner both teams win. They control the ball, they don't make mistakes and they have big time play-makers on both sides of the ball.

Yeah but look at how Indy is doing it with so many injured players not playing. Indy is having to fight tooth and nail every single game.

Both Big Bill and Bill Jr. deserve to be in the hall of fame along with the drivers because of what they did for the sport. The inaugural class should have consisted of 5 drivers or owners and the two Frances for what they did for Nascar. I chose 7 because of the Pro Football hall can induct as many as 7 and as few as 3 in a given year.

This rule was supposed to already be that if the ball hit the screen the down would be replayed. I quess since the Referees blew this one now the blame must be on Jerry Jones for putting the board 5 feet higher than NFL rules required. If he would have put it at 95 feet (10 feet higher than rules require) Tennessees punter would have still been aiming for it trying to hit it because it is so big.

I love everyone's defense of Baroid Bonds. That steroids didn't help him hit a baseball moving at 95 to 100 MPH. Steroids didn't help him make contact with the ball. It just gave him the power to hit it out of the park more often. Look at Pete Rose no power like Bonds but the man could hit the ball. Tony Gwen hit the ball constantly bet if he would have been on the juice like Baroid Bonds he would be the home run King. Baroid was always a high percentage hitter from the beginning of his career. Just amazes me how much more power he has gotten after being upstaged by Mcguire and Sosa a few years back. He couldn't stand not being in the spot light. Around that time I remember everyone saying Griffey Jr. was the only legitimite threat to Hank's record.

Nascar is never consistant with thier penalties. Look at Jimmy Johnson cheating before Daytona last year. No points docked from him. This Year Michael Waltrip before Daytona, points docked and fined. Dale Jr. docked and fined for cursing on TV and then for his crews actions this year. Nascar needs to establish a consistent rule book and penalties for violations.

a lot of ball players have good hand eye cordination and still hit fly ball out to the outfield and not home runs and are considered to be not to talented. so Just to say Bonds is talented because he hits so many homers and not fly ball outs HMMMMMMM Steroids.

Your Official Guide to Hating the Celtics
I think that for a championship game they should import refs from the farthest corners of the globe that know the rules but not the players. That way, an opposing player doesn't get a foul for merely touching Kobe because he's a Superstar.
I know this is stating the obvious, but no matter how much they may vehemently deny it, the refs in this league show a marked deference to the superstars. This gives the lakers a decided advantage that in a playoff series can mean the difference between winning or losing.
The Celtics either have to get so stealthy in how they guard Kobe, or they need a throw away goon from the bench that will guard Kobe, and whose fouling out won't impact the team.
posted by irunfromclones at 04:01 PM on June 01 -------------------- Could not agree with you more. The Refs will do everything in their power to give this series to LA. They Tried to give the Boston Cavs series to the Cavs but the Celts overcame the Refs bad calls. They will have to do the same here. Refs need to call it by the books. No bogus calls. Call Traveling for what it is by the rules. Non of this 4 and 5 steps with out dribbling.
