Reina...if it wasn't for that "manager" Benitez he wouldn't be AT Liverpool to begin with. Benitez comes in and takes over a team that Houllier had put together over a number of years and it was THAT team that won the Champion's League in what is one of my favourite games to watch over and over again.
The keeper for that unbelievable game was Jerzy Dudek, who in reality WON the game for Liverpool. Keeping them in the game with an incredible series of saves from Shevchenko in the 2nd half of overtime and then finally in the penalty kicks. Remember the Dudek Dance?
What other jackass would take the winning goalkeeper OUT of the number 1 spot to put in their countryman?! The guy had NO SHAME!
He then went on to completely dismantle the Liverpool that i loved by bringing in Spaniard after Spaniard, replacing the team that won the Champion's League and at the same time NEVER winning another trophy again!
WHY did Liverpool stay with him for so long?! And Reina was NEVER better than Dudek for me...NEVER. Benitez pissed me off so much over all the years he was in charge that i found myself wishing and hoping that Liverpool would LOSE games so that he would finally get fired and leave my team alone. But his mismanagement and overall incompetence was so bad that i now find myself having trouble to cheer for Liverpool again even after he is gone...

bender, well said... THAT and the media, ESPECIALLY the ESPN guys are focusing on Edu, when the foul that i THINK the ref was calling was going on with Bocanegra. Also, he whistled BEFORE the ball reached the box, so its not like he TOOK AWAY the goal, he whistled before it happened...
yerfatma, i don't understand how the guys calling the game didn't see that!! I saw it as it was happening, then on EVERY camera angle replay. HOW THE HELL DID THE REF NOT SEE IT?! If i was Fabiano i would have been too embarrassed to kick the ball, let alone celebrate the goal!

The team i hate the most wins the league... The team i hate the second most, gets 2nd place... A miserable EPL season for me this year... I liked the French League much better this year... Followed by the German, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Belgian, Scottish...

As far as what i THINK Bill was saying, and i think Platini was trying or is still trying to do...is make the Champions League an ACTUAL Champions League. ALL THE CHAMPIONS from every European league should be in the Champions League...All second place teams go into the Euro League. Then you can have the winners of the nation's CUP tournaments go into some kind of playoff for the rest of the CL and EL places. Winners of the Cups go to the CL, runner ups go to the EL...isn't that the best plan?!

Didn't read the article but don't agree with the title at all... In fact, it appears to me that the Spanish League has the best competitive league...
Sure, Barca and Real Madrid have alot of cash and fans...but the following teams also all have the ability to challenge for the title...
A. Madrid Villareal Sevilla Espanyol Valencia
And this year Mallorca, Bilbao and La Coruna are all up there in the standings... Sure, they're not challenging for the title THIS year as RM and Barca are running away with it, but thats only because of the amount they spent this summer...i think next year it will be alot closer.

That was a pure shot on goal and the result was a goal... His body movement, the kick, the way he wrapped his foot around the ball and the way he squared his shoulders while shooting...AFTER he kicks it, he's not looking where Zamora is or could be running to receive a cross, he is looking straight at the goal and the keeper's position to check if he is still standing where he was the last time he looked... All evidence that was not a cross but a shot. Dempsey is getting more and more confident and he WILL be getting only better if he stays healthy. I have seen him do similar things already...some even more outrageous than that. Some have worked and some haven't...this is not a fluke and you will see more from him soon.
JJ, i don't know what your deal is but you seem to just dislike the dude and can't give him credit where its due...

Americans are now conditioned to EXPECT commercials...the attention span of a typical American is simply too short to appreciate soccer.
All the bullshit about it being boring, is just that...bullshit. Americans would LOVE soccer if they were given a chance to even WATCH the damn game... There is a monopoly of team owners, corporations, media, etc., that LIKE the way things are and find soccer a threat so they simply won't let Americans learn to appreciate the greatest game in the world...
Just THINK about what would happen if Americans learned that soccer fans actually have an ACTIVE part in their respective teams. Do you think that a typical American basketball, baseball, football team owner gives a FUCK what the fans want?! Hell no, they just want the money... At least a fan of his soccer team can actually make his voice heard if not actually have a say in what his team will do...

He's only 33-34...thats not old. I was playing some of my best soccer just 2 years ago when i was 39. Granted i wasn't playing as a pro, but i was playing against OTHER players who weren't either between the ages of 18 and 40. I was the fastest guy on the pitch, believe it or not... :P I was covered by 2 defenseman as a minimum most games.
Beckham, being a pro with all that training and physical fitness can surely go on until he's 40 or more. Especially in the MLS...coming back from this will be simple. Coming back in time for the World Cup may be more difficult...
