Chelsea win the Premier League: ... in a bulldozing of Wigan Athletic on the last day of the season. The title could still have fallen to Manchester United had Chelsea drawn or lost against Wigan, who beat Chelsea 3-1 in September, but Chelsea allowed no questions in an 8-0 obliteration of Wigan, raising their total goals for the season to a stunning 103. Manchester United took second with a 4-0 victory against Stoke City, and Arsenal confirmed third place with a 4-0 win against Fulham, who are preparing for the Europa League final on Wednesday.
Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Tottenham Hotspur take England's four UEFA Champions League spots. On the bottom of the table, Hull City, Burnley, and Portsmouth go down to the Championship.

Definitely a highlight reel of some pretty awesome goals scored in that Chelsea game.

Not the least of which was Drogbas bicycle miss right before his header.

I mentioned the Arse getting third, which is far more than I wanted to do. Be nice, filthy Gooner. ;)

Also worth mentioning that Chelsea set a new record for most goals scored in a Premier League campaign.

Quality line on the Guardian podcast from James Richardson :
"Words "Ancelotti" and "Eight Nothing" appear in the same sentence for the first time ever."
(it works better if you say it out loud)

If ever the word rampant was well used, it was well used to describe Chelsea Sunday. I saw one or two of their seven goal outings this season but this more impressive. Though I wonder if the Wigan players mainly lost the plot after the Caldwell sending off. Drogba being so anxious to get a goal to be sure he won the Golden Boot was off-putting, particularly when Lamps wouldn't let him take the PK from Caldwell's red.
Chelsea also set the PL season record for goal difference (+71), home goals (68). And Cech won the Golden Glove.
As they say, anyone but ManU!

And yet it was an underwhelming season (especially compared to La Liga) with unlovable winners: bring on the World Cup.

What was so great about La Liga this year? Outside of Camp Neu and the Bernabeau there was never a chance of any club squeezing into the title chase; the record points totals both earned was evidence that Spain is devolving into the SPL. News that the Spanish topflight want to split into their own league but the two giants want no part of EPL/Serie A TV revenue sharing says to me there's little hope of change near term.
Barca played some beautiful football this year, but the quality of their opposition left them helpless against a first rank defense (Inter) and if Mourinho does move to Real Madrid next month as rumoured Guardiola... well he better hope the rumours about him taking over for Sir Alex come true in 12 months.

La Liga was about as lovable as the SPL this season.

The team i hate the most wins the league... The team i hate the second most, gets 2nd place... A miserable EPL season for me this year... I liked the French League much better this year... Followed by the German, Spanish, Italian, Polish, Belgian, Scottish...
Damn i hate Chelsea and over half the players...
