It was a good game to watch, and I'm not a fan of either team. Yes it hasn't been done since 72', and it's something to be proud of. Having said that, the monkey isn't off the pats backs yet by any means. They lose any game now and it will be like they kissed their sister. If they don't run the table, what will the season be remembered for? I'll tell you, the one they lost.

Kinda think his replacement was all ready contacted before Pederson was let go. Bring back the past to build a new future in Husker land.

Been a cheifs fan for years, go Tony! That said, he will be finding a spot in the hall of fame. To bad he will need to go elsewhere to get a superbowl ring. Fan yes, but really Tony and Larry Jonhson are their only big stars on offense. Hurman is trying to get the Cheifs younger, but I can't see Tony G staying around long enough to get to a superbowl with them. Look for him to be their next big trade bait to get younger. Oh you put Brodie in there and he doesn't have the year he is having.

Ever notice how that the really great QB's retire from the game! It's seems that is getting harder to come by all the time. I doubt we see number 4 in Green Bay do this move. Look at Elway. Course Montanna didn't retire either when he should have. Oh heck let's bring Phill Simms out of the broadcast booth while we are at it. For some it's not about football anymore, it's about staving off that mid life crisis!

Yea the lions are getting better, but easy people the Bears are not that good. The Bears finally are seeing a harder schedule, and their QB problems are just not going to improve the rest of the season. Mike Marks has some players to do something with finally. I hated him being promoted to head coach in St. Louis, but he makes a pretty good offensive coach. Lions won't make the playoff's , but they are getting better. And I don't see how Matt Miller can be responsible for this current years team results. I agree Ying Yang he sucks!

I still say he hasn't even begun to see the end of this yet! I'm still waiting for the IRS to get involved in the dog betting also. I just can't see him back in the NFL anytime soon, if EVER! What a poor smuck!

jojomfd1, I totally agree that management has a lot to do with it. Heck, the old Browns ownership at least had some football abilities as far as direction and picking talent.

This really wasn't a surprise, they had to give Quinn a chance. Sorry Charlie, but I don't see you gettin on the field soon. Cleavland is one football organization that's been hard to figure out ever since the NFL expanded and put a team back there. They don't seem to know what direction they are going in. Except maybe down in their division once again. They shouldn't feel bad, there are about four or five teams that are in that same position. Oakland, Houston Detroit, and Atlanta come to mind. Hey mabe Charlie can get out to Atlanta, lol.

It just goes to show you that you gotta be prepared to play ALWAYS! This happens in sports all the time. If you look past any team, it can come back to bite ya in the butt. I say congrats to the other team. Take it for what it was, a wake up call. ALWAYS come prepared to play the game. Whatever the team, whatever the sport!

Hey brainofdtrain that's funny, because when i heard the news I thought the same thing! I just wonder how long they will give Brodie before the come to their senses. Byron wouldn't be much of an improvement for the Chiefs though, not behind that revamped offensive line. Even Larry will have trouble running with that line in front of him. As far as Garrard goes, he is the best QB they had in camp. Not to say that they shouldn't still be shopping around for a better one though.

I can't help but think that before everything is said and done, that the IRS will be on Vick yet too. Let's hope that the lier has started to grow up a bit through all this, and doesn't give the sentencing judge the BIRD when he's sentenced! I had to laugh on last saturday morning I heard something on ESPN. Someone had sent a bunch of Vick's jersy's to a human shelter in Atlanta, with a note "You can use these to clean up the kennels". Poetic justice I thought. What bothers me about his lieing about all this is that how can you put any trust in him as your QB any more. QB is a position that leads the team. Having said that, he shows no real good "lead by example", qualities now. I personal would just rather not see him in the NFL anymore. Maybe now the Falcons can move on now. Sadly all of this will come back to BITE him when it comes ballet time for the hall of fame.

As a Cardinal fan I couldn't be more happy for him. And it's nice to see a pro team not cut-and-run, giving him a chance. And maybe, just maybe, this could be the thing that pushes the Cards to the top of their division. Go Cards!

Ok you want to do a fair comparison. Hand this out to all the ball players and let's see who can break the home run record next. My point was that with the equiptment used in sports, records can lose some of their luster. That's all!
posted by robi8259 at 05:52 AM on August 07, 2007
Blah, Blah, Blah. All the sports these days have so much more equiptment then what they stared out as. All to give that person, or team, an edge. Let's just remember that what's done today by one, will be looked upon by the young. Thus giving the green light for the future. So IF carefull thought isn't put into this, It's our own fault that sports can get so overwelmingly competitive, and end up out of control in some peoples eyes.

So what. Isn't it CLEAR we know how it was done? Bonds hopefully will have to face the music for what he has done for the game of baseball. This is a record that just got cheapened for Hank. A Rod I can only hope will break the record by doing it the right way. What a message it sends to the youth of today. If you can't be good enough by your gifted talent, just take the right STUFF; and then you can truely be all you can be. Sad, sad, sad!

I could see this spilling over into other sports also. We may now have come to the point of having refs/umpires, investigated fully before employed. Heck I could see it going to the point of random lie detector tests being done. Why not? We all ready have the athletes doing random drug testing. What really is the difference? Or more use of TV cameras in games.

For as much as everyone is saposed to think we have made strides with the race issue, well we aren't there yet. Blacks and whites still bring up the race card to get attention. Sad but true. As far as the Bonds thing goes, he will break Hank's home run record. But he just isn't a Hank Aron type of guy. As long as the steroids tag is hanging on him, he might as well have an * by his name. Because it became a meaningless record! And I'd say that about him whatever the guys skin would have been.

Anyway there are so many other places that would be better moves for teams.

The eastern conference has been down some in the past years, but I wouldn't be surprised to see the magic start getting some attention now sooner then later. I wouldn't put Lewis in with the Magic on superstar terms, but more of a very good role player. Howard is the up and coming star, and if Lewis can live with that he should do fine.

Spurs had more talent from the start period! If the teams in the east are not worried they better be. Western conference teams are just better. And if Detroit dismantles their team now, there is really going to be a power team problem in the east! And I'm not a piston fan either. Dallas, the Suns, and the Spurs; PLEASE! And the Rocket's and Jazz are like one or two players away from being in that other group. Sad thing of it is, is that the Spurs may not be able to repeat simply because the west is that good. Unless we see some serious trades in the off season, I'm willing to bet that the west wins again next year. OK I'm done, enough said.

Hey dozerhand what's really sad is that they have had a running game, but with retiring players they will need some help fast. They have some great running backs, but now much less of a line to block for them. And if your grooming another quarterback you need the running game. You can't sell the pass well in Kansas City if you don't run. Otherwise the next quarterback will be on his back a lot! The Cheifs have been in need of retooling for a while now, age has come up and bit them on the butt.

LOL, that's funny about Bill Cowher and the idea he would think about the San Diego coaching job. Think about it, in a way it makes since. Coming from the Steelers who have always had the rep for paying people on the low end scale, compared to the rest of the league. Why would he consider the chargers who in my opinion are second on the pay scale list. He comes back to coach he can ask his price and get it. And we all know that Jones has the deep pockets and likes to prooove it time and again. Big D could be a place he could end up in some day.

I think in the short run this will work for the cowboys. I rather doubt that Bum will make it all the way through his contract though. Garrett by then should be ready to run the show. If you ask me their biggest problem is dealing with T O! The sooner they say so long to him, the sooner they get to their goal of a superbowl. Come on people, this guys performance on the field isn't worth the crap from him off it! He is like Vick in Atlanta, a coach killer! Moooooove along little doggie, that's what cowboy's do. Or need to do.

This is to The_Black_Hand. I agree totally. My point was that the kids today don't have many sports figures to look up to. They have become something to look down to. And as parents our work is cut out, to try and give the kids the right values and morals to make them better people.

I think what is lost here once again, is who our kids are looking up to these days. From cry baby Owens, to drugstore Bonds, and countless others, who do you want your kids to look up to? It seems that todays athelete can do anything and everything, and not be responsible for any of their actions. If that doesn't scare parents, I don't know what will!

But since I hate Dallas all I can do is laugh about it! Let's face it, the afc is probably going to win it all. But sure would like to see the saints in there at the end.

Best of luck to Cowher, stepping down on your own terms just doesn't happen in the NFL much anymore. Let's face it, the mentallity of owners today is to win now. If he burned out, hey it's been 15 years. He only outlasted 94 other coaches in that span. Other owners could learn something from the steelers on how to work with their coaches. And I'm not a steeler fan either.

Vick passes the buck. He will be a coach killer for the Falcons, until they get smart and tell him you need to play another position! He is a great runner, but doesn't pass well. Put some bigger pads on him either use him as a running back or as a wide out. Then please go back to the drawing board and get a true quarterback. Until then they will be like so many other nfl teams that make the playoffs by luck of the schedule. Until this happens they will continue to implode yearly.

Patriots are perfect 16-0
Anyone that knows anything about football knows you go through the season and have 3 games that season, that could go either way for you. As good a talent as the Pats are, it was no different for them. You still need to get lucky sometimes to get those games under your belt. Ravens, Philly, and Giants are those games. Still need to get their monkey off their backs, and win the rest of the way or it's all for not. I wish them luck, because there is a game plan out there now to beat them. Preasure on the QB, and run the ball on them on your turns with the ball. You can't shoot it out with those guys. And mistake free football, or you shoot yourself in the foot!
