Blackhawks to play in the Friendly Confines?: The Chicago Blackhawks are gunning for an outdoor game and it looks as if they want to play it at Wrigley Field. [via]

I hope it happens. I'm about 6 hours away and could make it to that game. I enjoyed the game in Buffalo and hope the NHL can work in more than one outdoor game during each season.

I think they should keep it to one game a season. Make it an event and keep it special.

If they can pull it off. They will sell a boatload of tickets to Blues fans. Not so much to view outside match, but to boo the hated Blackhawks. I'm on board if it comes about. I never actually see a outside pro hockey game.

Good point, NoMich. Except I'm selfish. I'm all for an annual event. The only thing I'd like to see different is getting the fans up against the glass. I was surprised to see all that empty real estate in Buffalo, could've been a lot more tickets sold.

If it comes about, maybe the guys from St. Louis could go together- seeing how gas prices are. I know alot of people in Chicago to get us tickets. Franchise for my business is headquartered in Naperville.

I dont really follow hockey that much. Do the blackhawks have a shot at the stanley cup? If so they should play that in wrigley. Someone should have a chance to hoist a trophy there.

Nakeman, I'll bet with just the fans that the two of us know we could charter a bus. ROAD TRIP!!!!!!!!

Why not Soldier Field?

Nakeman, I'll bet with just the fans that the two of us know we could charter a bus. ROAD TRIP!!!!!!!! Probably right. We'll look into it if the game comes about and hopefully the Blues will play.

hopefully the Blues I know St. Louis has great fans and the Blues are a once proud franchise on the up-swing, I can't imagine this not being a Hawks-Redwings match up. I think these games should be a once a year affair but this should be the next one. What are the chances of a Habs-Leafs outdoor game? Doesn't Montreal have an outdoor soccer stadium where they could play?

Too bad for all you Coyotes and Panthers fans.

We could roundtrip Amtrak it for under $50.00 also. Plus if it derails we could rake it in on the lawsuit. Sweet.

I'm not a huge hockey fan although I saw a few matches back in the early 80's. Still I'd pay the price of admission along with a couple souvenir cups of beer to catch one of these outdoor ice parties.

Plus if it derails... Donner party of 4... Donner party of 4....

I agree that one outdoor game per year is probably best, just to keep it a bit more unique. I also agree Soldier Field would be a better choice to hold the game in Chicago than Wrigley Field.

Too bad for all you Coyotes and Panthers fans. Well.... Kings vs Rangers, outdoors, Las Vegas, 1991

I stand corrected, gspm. Thanks for the reminder of that game.

What are the chances of a Habs-Leafs outdoor game? The Canadiens played against the Oilers in Edmonton for the first occurence of these outdoor games. I'm afraid other teams will get their turn before it comes back to us. Doesn't Montreal have an outdoor soccer stadium where they could play? Unfortunately, we don't. We have a huge, crumbling indoor stadium, and a few small-ish outdoor stadiums, including the the Alouettes' home, which seats 20 000 people, and the upcoming Stade Saputo, which will seat a maximum of 17 000. So it doesn't look good that way either...

I wonder how many people you could pack around Lac aux Castors? Nice slope on the east side.

Young stars in Chicago would support this game well.
