Let's All Give Money to the Rich Man!: Noted sequential artist Peter Bagge of Hate! fame illustrates the ridiculousness of "Billionaire Sports Team Owners and their Corporate Welfare Scam".
I say right on,right on,right on,right on! And hooray to the mayor of Big D for seeing this and letting the Boys go to Arlington.(I'm ducking, already).

Great link, lil. As if the man needed to squeeze more from common folk who can barely afford to attend a game or two and season tickets are a substitute for a family vacation.

I nominate "Jock Palace" for the "Phrase of the Year" competition.

I live 300 miles from both Qwest field and Safeco. Great to read the link and be pleasantly reminded of how they were funded.

This reminds me of everything that has gone on in pittsburgh in the last decade. We voted down two new stadiums but the politicians just used what they called "Plan B", which was "we are gonna do it anyways". Then this year the Penguins threatened to leave so they got a new arena. This is a trend that I wish would end but I don't see it happening any time soon.

The Santa Clara Forty-Niners are another prime example. There's a lot of deliberate confusion being spread about the actual cost to the city and taxpayers. It's really just the same old horse in just a different color.

It also leads to some hard feelings between the city and the team down the road. Cincy wasn't too happy about having a sucky team after paying for a $450 Million stadium.

Nice rant, but his panel on Arlington has an error. The Rangers' ballpark complex wasn't built in part of downtown Arlington -- it's a couple miles away. And any reason to wipe out that city's downtown would be a good one -- even corporate sports welfare.
