Not Old Pat!!:
According to the Packers, Pat Summerall will do play-by-play for the Pack-Panther game Sunday. I thought he retired after last season. He's hasn't been good in 10+ years. I'll be turning up the radio for this game.

He's been doing the Dallas games this season, and he did the Skins-Cards opener. They need to put him out to pasture. It's pathetic the way he is now. Sad, really. Madden needs to join him too.

Last year, I thought that Summerall was actually better than he had been in a while (although still not good) but this year he seems to have gotten worse again. I would still much rather listen to him than the ESPN Sunday night crew.

I would love to have a network that had no annoucers at all. Just the sounds of the game. I watch many games on mute already.

Caught him doing the Eagles-Dallas game this past weekend. He looks horrible, we're talking Bob Hope horrible. This guy needs to retire and get some R&R down in the Carribean or something.

Instead of doing games, they should have had him doing voice-overs and some "classic moments" stuff. He used to be great, but the last few years have seen him decline steadily. I/m glad they promoted Joe Buck to top announcing crew at Fox. His dad must be proud up in heaven right now.

Wait a second-- you people are complaining about Summerall and Madden? Try being a Pats' fan: we got two consecutive weeks of Dick "Almost Intercepted by Someone Who Retired Ten Years Ago" Enberg. Last week he: 1. Accused Tom Brady of a bad throw on a halfback pass by Kevin Faulk 2. Needed three tries to get the right name of the player who received a screen pass. Also, I'd take a sleeping Pat Summerall over "OHMIGOD! WOULDYOULOOKATTHAT!" Gus Johnson any day of the week and twice on Sundays (assuming the NFL would allow a double-header once in a while).

I like the ESPN crew. I would love it if Joe and Paul finally start throwing punches in the booth. You just gotta know they're not very fond of each other.
