102-Year-Old Woman Sinks Hole in One: Elsie McLean became the oldest golfer to hit a hole-in-one Thursday at Bidwell Municipal golf course in Chico, Calif. She sank the 100 yard shot on the par 3 fourth hole using a driver. "When you get to be 102, you don't have much choice," she said. McLean, who began golfing before Arnold Palmer took up the sport, has played the course for 70 years.

The beauty if this is not so much the hole in one (although it's an awesome accomplishment), it's that at 102 she is playing golf. We should all be so fortunate to have our health and the physical capability to play any sport or even walk at 102 years of age. Way to go Elsie.

Mark Twain said "Golf is a good walk spoiled", she was probably there to tell him otherwise. Wonder if she has to carry her own bag?

I guess she had to buy the Geritol in the clubhouse. Good on 'er!

This is so inspiring for someone like me who is rapidly approaching his late youth.Maybe I can still complete a marathon or compete in a Triathalon.

One of my first thoughts had to be that at 102 years old this record will never be broken but then you read the article and find out that the previous record holder was 101 years old and he held the record for only a short time before Elsie came along. Sickleguy- I have found short triathalons easier to do than running a marathon and at almost 50 years old I still do pretty well in both. It has more to do with ambition than age!

God bless her.To get up and walk every day is an accomplishment to some. But at her age and to be playing golf is simply unbelievable. Most people who play golf, such as myself, have never come close to a hole in one.Hell,I'm lucky to make par on most holes.

No kidding, Ghastly1 -- having basic mobility at that age is phenomenal. That's my biggest old-age fear, not being able to get around on my own. Props to her!
