2006 College bowl listings: Does exactly what it says. A list of who plays who, and where.
Forgive me if I'm slow but is that sarcasm or are you really excited for Troy v Rice? I am a big advocate of playoff system but since "they" won't give me what I want I do look forward to the bowl games. I will say a bad bowl game is better than a good Lifetime Movie.

After I posted this I thought "Crap, I hope I haven't posted something that's going to get me bitched at." But as it hadn't already been posted, I was hopeful... Posted this purely as a public service. I watched the last half of West Virginia vs Rutgers the other night, but that's the first college football I've ever watched, so I posted this for other people really:)

i am very excited to see ohio state just totally destroy a team that in no possible way deserves to be ranked #2. it might be more exciting to watch paint dry or watch nba.

oh great. the one game that i actually wanted to watch is on a channel that i (like many in the nj/ny area) can't get.

The Insight Bowl looks like it could be interesting...both teams (Minnesota and Texas Tech) have high-powered offenses, and no defense. Could be a shootout.

What no ToysRus/IHOP Bowl? How about a HoneyBakedHam Bowl? Back in Battle Creek we actually held one called the Cereal Bowl. No kidding! I mean come on, can anyone with a few bucks have a bowl named after their company? Have they no shame at all? Wasn't the Weedeater Bowl embarrassing enough?

Screw that... Here's to the 2007 SPORTSFILTER BOWL!!!!

Ya, anyone with some cash can get in line behind the BCS, ABC, the NFL (free farm system) and anyone else who wants to exploit the college athelete. By providing a free education (tuition is covered by non athelete students i would imagine)and in return the school gets millions. BRILLIANT! I know this is somewhat off topic but all this bowl bs is about MONEY! Isn't it about time the players get their fair share of the pie?

If I was a player and my team wasn't in a BCS bowl, I'd think I'd get excited about playing in Hawaii or Las Vegas. I mean, come on, it's Hawaii or Vegas. The Holiday Bowl wouldn't be bad, either. I'd hate to have to go to the MPC Computers Bowl. Boise, ID on December 30th and play in an open stadium? No thanks. Even the travel would suck. They'd probably have to leave the day after Christmas to go up there, then fly home either right after the game, New Year's Eve or New Year's Day. Ugh.

I think the Rose Bowl will be a very good game, with the traditional conferences represented, and two very good teams. Is there a more beautiful playing surface in football than the one in Pasadena on New Years Day?

I notice that there are 32 games listed this year. A 32 team playoff system would require 31 games to complete. Other than the arguments over money, sponsorship, etc., doesn't anyone think it would be possible to satisfy all of the game sponsors, and still produce a playoff? PS: Does anyone, other than alums of Northeastern University or East Carolina, remember the Cement Bowl of 1963 at Allentown, PA?

Rutgers got screwed so badly. Lose your last game in OT and end up at the I Can't Get This On Cable, Can I? Bowl.

The problem with a 32 team playoff is that if would add another week to the bowl season. Right now the bowls cover almost 4 weekends but you would need a fifth for 32 teams instead of 16. That extra week either pushes the championship game back to jan 13 or 14 (I personally think the 8th is already too late) or it would put the first round right before or in the middle of finals for a huge number of the student-athletes. With the bowl schedule this year, the first 3 games are the only ones that might interfere with finals.

it would be a nice reward for a team to go to hawaii, but who's one of the teams playing in the Hawai'i Bowl? Hawai'i themselves, of course. They get a home game and deny some team from somewhere cold the chance to go to Hawai'i and warm up a bit, and play in a bowl game. I think "home bowl games" like that shouldn't happen. Another happened in 2002 when my Cyclones played Boise State in the "whatever we want to call the blue turf bowl this year" bowl in Boise.

We need four more bowl games!! Pittsburgh, Kansas, SMU, Kent State, Wyoming, Washington St., Arizona, and Arkansas State are all still eligible and available (unless some are on probation). [EDIT: and Louisiana-Lafayette.]

Aardhart I really hope you're being sarcastic. I don't know about everybody else but I don't get excited about 6-6 teams playing each other, or matchups like Rice vs. Troy. In my opinion, there are way to many bowl games at the moment.

Aardhart I really hope you're being sarcastic. YYM, don't you see how Kent State vs. Louisiana-Lafayette in the Buffalo Frostbite Bowl would draw more attendance and ratings than the Ole' Granddaddy Bowl (or whatever they call it) they play in Pasadena. Yes. I am being sarcastic.

Best non-BCS game on the slate? I say the Capital One. Arkansas vs. Wisconsin will be a nice litmus test for the BCS Championship. I think Arkansas should win pretty handily, but then I am also one of the few who think that Florida is going to beat Ohio State.

BCS= Because Coach Tressel Scared!!! Jim Tressel scared? Yeah, right. Watch him on the sidelines. See how he freaks out under pressure? See how the pressure makes him wilt? He really should learn to be a bit cooler. Honestly, I think you really meant to say that Coach (John) Cooper's scared, because his record against Michigan was 2-10-1. Tressel is 5-1 against the Wolverines since taking over at Ohio State. Michigan, basically, is Jim Tressel's bitch!
