Think you were a good athlete in high school?: Think again.

No Iverson? Wow. All he did was win Virginia's Player of the Year in Basketball and Football while leading both high school teams to a state championship. Shortly after Bethel won the Division 5 state football championship in 1992, Iverson made a bold prediction. He had been the star quarterback and defensive back for the Bruins' football team. Now he was saying Bethel would win the state championship in basketball, too. Three months later, Iverson completed his double. Bethel won the Group AAA state championship and Iverson turned in the greatest year ever by a Group AAA player by averaging 31.6 points a game. The Associated Press named Iverson the Group AAA player of the year in both sports. Here's part of the description when the Daily Press named Iverson its football player of the year: "Iverson the quarterback passed for 1,423 yards with 14 touchdowns. Iverson the runner gained 781 yards with 15 touchdowns. Iverson the kick returner scored five touchdowns, four on punts. Iverson the defensive back intercepted eight passes." All as a 5'10 155 pound Junior. And here's part of the description when the paper gave him the same honor for basketball: "Maybe the nation's best high school point guard, the first team Parade All-American led the Bruins to their first state, Eastern Region and Peninsula District titles. ... He is at the top of the list when players having the complete package of skills are discussed. He has explosive quickness, great leaping ability and NBA 3-point shooting range." -Daileypress.com

Silly me, I read right past the time limit. Sorry. I was thinking that there were an awful lot of people left out of that.

To hell with Drew Henson. I cursed him when he went over to the Dark Side and dissed Michigan the way he did. So did I but if you've ever looked at Michigan's high school baseball records, his name appears many, many times at the top of the list.

No Ron Curry? He was the National Player of the Year in both football and basketball, and a National Honor Society member to boot. (And yes, less than 10 years ago, though only by a hair.) SI is disregarding him because he was lousy in college, but if you're going to give an award by high school career, and Curry isn't on it, its a screwjob. (The excellent Dave Sez has a great Ron Curry article if you want to go a bit beyond the stats list from UNC.)

I've actually met natalie coughlin before and i could say who cares about swimming anyway. Then I would say its quite obvious you haven't really paid attention to the guidelines.

Vito90 made the Varsity baseball team as a freshman. Vito90 benched 225 pounds by his JUNIOR year. Vito90 was too busy devastating the ladies to play other sports. But, alas, Vito90 also graduated more then ten years ago and was not eligible.

To hell with Drew Henson. I cursed him when he went over to the Dark Side and dissed Michigan the way he did. I'm pretty sure that my curse on him is still working...
