Could see the ending coming from a mile away and it still kills. Hugs all around, Weedy.

To me, this is really what sports are all about. I value the play by play recaps of the 2004 ALCS playoff games that my Red Sox loving grandfather and I breathlessly recounted on the phone, 3000 miles apart, than I value the Red Sox victory. Great article. Thanks, lilnemo.

Moms and baseball are great, aren't they? Suddenly, I'm hungry for some apple pie...

With me it was my father and I. In the spring of 97 he was dying of lung cancer (though it was in remission at the time). He was on his computer in Michigan and I was on mine in Phoenix during every game of the Stanley Cup playoffs, cheering the RedWings on. We emailed back and forth while watching the games on TV. I still have all of those emails saved on a CD and I check it out every once in awhile.

Aw. This is what sports is all about, and it doesn't matter in the least that I'm not a baseball fan and don't care about these games, I can still totally understand it. Great link.

This is a great post. Reading this article, brought back a flood of emotions and memories. I have a baseball memory that I share with my parents. We were not rich growing up, and my mom and dad raised six kids on one salary. They(and I) were huge baseball fans. Our summer holiday in 1969 was mom, dad, and us kids flying from Toronto to Montreal for an Expos double header. I got Rusty Staub's autograph that day, and still have it. We flew home the same night. I lost my mom 20 years ago, and my dad just this past December, but that is a memory I will have my whole life. Baseball can be a wonderful thing sometimes. Oh yeah, my brother and I got to go up and visit with the pilots for a few minutes in the cockpit on the way back too. THAT would never happen now.
