Penguins Hire Shero: Ray Shero was hired Thursday as the Pittsburgh Penguins' general manager, a day after the Nashville Predators assistant general manager broke off talks with the Boston Bruins about their GM's job.

Weird. I thought that that Shero hiring for the Bruins was a done deal. Shero appeared ready to take the Bruins' job earlier this week, but talks apparently broke down over compensation and authority issues Yeah, I probably wouldn't want to be a puppet in Boston, and then take all the blame for failure either. Also of note is that in the last line of the article, they called him Sheri. Hee hee!

Oh thank God. I was afraid the Bruins wouldn't fuck something up and the world would collapse upon itself.

Would you believe I used to be a hard-core hockey fan? Thankfully Jeremy Jacobs and his hellspawn gave me The Cure. On DVD.

I used to be an Islander fan until Milbury and his reign of fucking stupidity. i din't feel right about jumoing on the Ranger band wagon so I went with Philly and that about brings us up to date.

I don't care about this, all I care about is keeping the Pens in Pittsburgh. Moving them to another left-coast city would just seem...wrong. But congrats any-hooo.

The Pens need all the pedigree they can dredge up at this point.

Things aren't looking good, IIRC, though at this point I'm not sure which proposal is the good one.

Wide lattitude perhaps, but can he overcome the the Pens being the Pens? "There is nothing wrong with running a lean operation, but the Penguins have become too stripped-down to be effective or efficient. ... A minor, but telling, bit of evidence: There was no Internet access in the coaches' offices at Mellon Arena until the middle of this season." Dave Molinari, Post Gazette, April 19, 2006
