Hidden: Japan Vs. Cuba for Baseball Title Tonight: When you think about it, is this really that surprising?

It is surprising to me. I was expecting the U.S. and the Dominican Republic to be in the mix.

I am not surprised that the US is not there but expected the Dominican Republic to be there instead of Cuba.

we can ACTUALLY call this a World Series Except that it's not a series, it's one game. Cuba and Japan is not surprising. South Africa might have been surprising. China would have been fall-down surprising. But any of the teams that moved beyond the first round (and some that did not) could have been at this point. The format leaves too much to chance to be able to logically predict the outcome (this may sound like sour grapes from somebody who got crushed in his WBC pool, but I swear I've believed this all along).

You are right, BullpenPro, that the format leaves too much to chance. But then, it strikes me that the two teams that made it to the end are in many respects the two teams with the most to prove. So maybe chance had nothing to do with it...

Serious question. How many of the players in the final are with MLB clubs? How many of the Koreans are with MLB clubs?

I was thinking DR and Venezula were going to be the two best

WELL...they will be WORLD CHAMPIONS.....unlike the winners of the world series....super bowl....nba championship..........expand your mind.....the world exists outside the 48 contiguous states!

Salmacis, I believe the answer to your question is TWO - both being from Japan because Cuban's can't play MLB without defecting (I don't think).
