I wouldn't like to be a Leeds fan at the moment. The words "rats" and "sinking ship" might have to be applied to them. Is Rio worth it? Nah. You could probably get an equally good defender for much much less - I think Arsenal have managed this with Pascal Cygan.

Samii Hypia cost Liverpool £2.6m in 1999. At the same time Man U paid about £10m for Jap Stamm. The only reason they have to go out & spend all this money on Rio is that Ferguson spat his dummy over the Stamm afair. Interestingly things might be going full circle. www.marca.es links Stamm with a move back to the premiership at Leeds!!

Sawks: 'what f**king next?!' Well, now that Bowyer's Liverpool move has collapsed, Leeds have the lovely lout back for another season. It'll be interesting to see how he and Venables get along.

Rio Ferdinand is calss through and through. Fergusin needs class through and through in his defence. For whatever reason he decided that he needed a UK (who costs more) player. Rio Ferdinand is the best defender in Englad that was free to move clubs. United have their man, again. I'm sure, after a month or so of settling in he'll be stunning.

there are 2 premiership sides from manchester :P yes he's worth it (although there aren't many sides around at the moment who could afford that fee) - but i dont think he'll macigally solve all of the problems with man u's defence either as a leeds fan, all i can say about our pre-season so far is 'what f**king next?!' and i also hope that rio breaks his leg sometime before the start of the champions league
