Father of Mine: After American skier Toby Dawson won a bronze medal in the moguls last week, a South Korean man came forward claiming that he was Toby's biological father. He said his son had gone missing during a shopping trip with his mother near a market in Busan 25 years ago, and Dawson, who was adopted by two ski instructors in Colorado in 1981, is actually his son. (Other prospective parents have come forward as well.)
Children's Services people in Korea and the United States are looking into the matter.

what's up with the father that didn't call the cops when his son went missing. his excuse is really sorry. part of me wonders if the guy just abandonded this kid, wherever or whoever his kid is.

I just hope that one of these people are his biological father or mother. It's bad enough that these people come out when he wins an Olympic medal. I would like to think that they were searching this whole time and didn't have any way to reach out to the U.S. adoption agencies.

i was glad to see that Dawson has been searching for his biological parents. it would be pretty fucked up if he had no interest in finding out at all and suddenly all of these people claimed to be a blood relative. for his sake i hope someone turns out to be a match.

Perhaps the man is his real father but, why now? The money in endorsements expected to be made by Dawson! Better judgement would have been contact Dawson after the Olympics are over. Perhaps the would be daddy saw dollar signs coming his way signified both by the approach he used and the place and time. And, the other prospective parents also know the value of money!!

There could just be many peoople who really did lose there child during that time and had no way or resources to find their child. How do we know the police weren't involved when his kid went missing, erkno? I understand that there are lots of opportunists in this world, but there are also plenty of people who have a child missing who are always holding out hope to find him/her one day.

Are we up & running again? Okay. Where we? Okay. I don't suspect this is a money issue. I'm sure he's doing fine, but he can't be pulling Bode Bucks(tm) down. Fame-by-association? Closure? Maybe. This could potentially be a really wonderful story. I'm trying to not think about the possible downsides too much.
