Bonds Clarifies Retirement Talk: Here we go already. He's already backing off comments he made earlier in the day."If I can play [in 2007], I'm going to play; if I can't I won't,"

When will he learn...we are long past caring. Retire...quit...admit the 'roids have washed you under. No one gives a shit anymore Barry...just go the fuck away. You Sir, are a joke now.

Please Barry, just go. Any record you may set is already tainted. Go back to where ever you came from and stew in your own hate.

I love Barry Bonds.

What he said: "If I can play [in 2007], I'm going to play; if I can't I won't," What I heard (or read): "Blah blah blah blah [blah blah], blah blah blah blah. Blah blah blah blah blah," I mean honestly. It's kinda like saying, "If it's raining, it's not sunny, if it isn't raining, it will be." No, really? You're kiddin'.

Bonds just likes to hear himself talk and see his name in the paper. He doesn"t know what he wants, I guess thats what roids does to your brain.

I'm not inside Barry's head, but I suspect if I had a microphone in my face all the time while I was working out in my mind what my future held, I might say more than a few contradictory things too. Keep that in mind while you're screaming at him for being some kind of wishy-washy hypocrite.

chico, please take a moment to see if Barry has ever made this kind of comment before. Go ahead, it won't take long. Done? OK, now take your head out of his ass. Thanks.

I'll ignore the personal attack and the condescending attitude, Masked, and point out that you're actually agreeing with me.

however many years he is going to play we are in the final stages of seeing the greatest hitter of our time

I really hope Bonds does retire, and soon, he doesn't deserve Aaron's record. Aaron had class and grace, Bonds is a horrible role model, and a steriod using has been. The record should be safe, hopefully.

Really? I think Barry would want to take that record and rub it all our faces. That's the funny thing about talent - no class needed. Although for a guy who hates the media, he sure is giving them his fair share of time these days.
posted by WeedyMcSmokey at 01:21 PM on February 20, 2006
The only thing he will be rubbing on anything is more Ben-Gay on his knees, before he puts his brace on. If he can't run well enough to play outfield, what the hell are the Giants going to do with him? First base? You still have to move occasionally. Just listen to steroid-infested Hulk Hogan and Bonds talk one after the other. Yeah, guys, 'roids really DO infect your thought processes.

Although for a guy who hates the media, he sure is giving them his fair share of time these days. "Barry, can I ask you a question?" "No. I'm tired of talking to the media. Whatever I say, you guys make a big deal about it." BARRY BONDS SNUBS MEDIA! WHAT IS HE HIDING? LET'S SPECULATE! It's a no-win situation.

Name me three people who SHOULD give a shit.

How about that? I think he's just trying to put a little more suspense to the HR record thing. He may not be able to break it this year and he wants people to believe that his main goal is not to achieve such milestone. But, let's face it this milestone could be by far the greatest accomplishment of his long ML career if one takes into account he's never won a WS.

Name me three people who SHOULD give a shit. Sure. Me, my friend Joe and about 2 million people that attend San Francisco Giant baseball games.

Did this really merit another Front Page Post, a scant four hours after your first one? Better to stick this in the original thread.
