Father of former ASU player sues

Changed my post a little. We can't hold a university accountable for its students' actions. If we did, then it would never end. Soon enough we'd have people suing 30 years later because the school let some woman's husband go to bars as a freshman and led to his alcholism that made him an abusive spouse. And if someone starts learning subversive things at college, then should we sue the college for not censoring all writings that go through its doors? Yeah, both scenarios might sound really ridiculous...but then again, you know what else sounds ridiculous to me? A woman suing McDonald's because she can't hold a coffee cup between her legs.

NFL owners approve six-year CBA extension

bdaddy, it's all about the size of the city. Just think about it this way...if every person in the entire city of Jacksonville bought one piece of Jaguars merchandise, only one in five people in Atlanta would need to buy Falcons' gear to match (and actually) pass their sales numbers. When you take that into account and include every aspect (TV, radio, etc.), then you can see why even if a small market team is beloved by their fans, they will normally never be as lucrative as a crappy team in an apathetic big city.

Bonds Clarifies Retirement Talk

chico, please take a moment to see if Barry has ever made this kind of comment before. Go ahead, it won't take long. Done? OK, now take your head out of his ass. Thanks.

Bryant Gumbel Torches Olympics

Please note that the Winter Olympics are on NBC, the network Gumble hates, and March Madness is on CBS, the network he works for. Yeah, I BET its all about racism to Bryant...

ESPN names new MNF broadcast team.

I agree with frazer here. Why not let Marv and Boomer take a shot or how about just keeping Patrick/Theisman/McGuire together? It seems like with MNF everyone feels the need to try and reinvent the wheel. Guys...the NFL is at the absolute pinnacle of its popularity. Just ride it and be happy with your #1 rating on Monday nights.

The Big Hurt Becomes an A

"Once we got Jim Thome from the Phillies the "Big Skirt" was obsolete." Uh...Jim ain't exactly an iron man himself.

Mario...Out! again

Mario isn't the greatest player of all time, but he's likely in everyone's top 5. How can you not like Super Mario? I hope that, if anything, his retirement is the kind of kick in the pants that the city of Pittsburgh needs so they can git 'er done and keep the Penguins where they belong.

Kobe drops 81 for 2nd most in a game in history of NBA.

"When Jordoan got Pippen and Kerr and Paxson and Rodman..he started to win titles but that is NOT because he made those palyers better because in fact they were already really good players!" Dude, look at some stats first. Once MJ left the game, did you hear ANYTHING out of any of the above-mentioned players? Rodman is the only one who did anything of note without MJ, and it should be noted that MJ won his first few titles WITHOUT Rodman. And he won a title because STEVE KERR WAS ADDED TO THE TEAM? Please. They put talent around him and he made them into basketball players. As soon as his court guidance left, none of these guys did a thing. Unless you count Pippen pulling over those sheets in anger when the Blazers went down in the playoffs again.

Steelers Take Down Colts

This loss is on Dungy. They got away from the run early, they got out of their gameplan with plenty of 3 step drops instead of their normal 5, they let the Steeler's defense dictate the entire game up until the final few minutes of the 4th quarter. You can give the Steelers credit and rightly so...but how many years are Tony Dungy teams going to choke in the playoffs behind poor playcalling before someone blames Mr. Nice Guy for not getting it done and stops trying to shift the blame elsewhere? And I agree, Manning can win the big one, but much like Elway, he will need a COACH who can win the big one first.

Steelers Take Down Colts

Ok for one thing, let's not forget that about a decade ago Cower got the good calls against Indy to send him to the Super Bowl, so I don't feel badly about the poor officiating, especially since they won anyway. And everyone is trying to stick this on Manning which is partially correct....HOWEVER, someone needs to step up here and mention the fact that Tony Dungy has yet to win a big playoff game as a head coach. His teams constantly choke in big games, Tampa had to send him packing before they could finally win it all. Will Indy have to do the same? I certainly feel bad for the whole situation he has been placed in now, but he continues to be paid to do his job and get this team all the way...there's no excuse for not making the Super Bowl this year.

Manny isn't going anywhere!

No no no no no, Shaq leaving is by no means a Ruth-level blunder. The babe still had many, MANY years of Hall of Fame-level play in him. In Shaq's case, he had last year left in him and even this season his minutes are heading south. Three good years tops out of Shaq...that is not a curse-level transaction. I'd say a much more comparable trade to Ruth would be the Dodgers dealing away Pedro for DeShields. Brrrrrrrr...

Ex-Ohio State Star Runner Wanted for Armed Robbery

A pioneer? Yeah, what I'll always remember him for is almost screwing up the NFL by destroying an age requirement that makes college and pro football soooo much better than the NBA and NCAAB. And why? So he wouldn't have to go to class (not that he did anyway) and he could start getting rich and spending tons of money ONE YEAR earlier. Or perhaps it was after he figured out he wasn't going to be able to play at any 1-A school? That's why I hate him, and I am realy enjoying watching karma come back to bite his sorry ass. And as for the racism stuff...people like RZA don't realize that as soon as they step on their soapbox all they do is bring more attention to the racist comments. It's like mentioning your major competitor in advertising...you do it and people say "so what is this other product that they keep mentioning?" You keep mentioning racism and you do it in such polarizing terms and all you're gonna do is get each side more pissed off and firmly entrenched in the belief that the other side is stupid/backwards/hippies/whatever and cannot see your argument. You sound holier-than-thou because you are.

Russian Heavyweight Valuev Returns Champion’s Belt to Ruiz

chicobangs I'll apply to be World Champion. Now I only weigh 165 lbs., BUT, if accepted for the position of Champion of the World, I will eat a LOT of food and get up to speed in no time. Also, I'll be holding a lot of press conferences bashing my opponent, then drop out of fights due to knee injuries until the title is stripped from me. Then I'll go on ESPN and claim that the title was robbed from me and I will no longer partake in an unjust system, thus finishing my career undefeated.

McNabb fires back at NAACP prez's criticism that he's "mediocre"

Also Hater, if you're lower class and not racist that's just plain wonderful. But unfortunately, because you are not racist doesn't mean the vast majority of lower class people aren't either.
