Javon Walker out for the season , Torn ACL: This is a guy who held out in training camp for a new contract , came back in good faith and now has a devestating injury. Green Bay financially came out lucky but lost their star reciever . Walker came out of it without a new contract and a torn ACL.

Welp, there goes my fantasy team.

And that is why I have no problem with players holding out on NFL teams for a better contract. Do you think Green Bay will negotiate with him in good faith while he sits on the sidelines?

Do you think Green Bay will negotiate with him in good faith while he sits on the sidelines? His next negotiations will have the term injured knee come up , his chance at a big contract is finished (at least in Green Bay). There maybe some team who will over pay him and then label him a bust down the line.

All-around good guy Brett Favre will surely send him some money.

posted by yerfatma at 06:25 PM on September 12, 2005

Maybe Brett will...nah..I doubt it. Walker got what he deserved. Do not get into playing shape...instead play the hold out game...and see what happens. I'm going to be crying I'm laughing so hard the instant that humanitarian owens hits the turf...and grabs a knee. Bye bye big money. Hey...I wonder if there is still time to pull back that offer on the ring?

"Walker, who made the Pro Bowl last season after catching 89 passes for 1,382 yards and 12 touchdowns, threatened to hold out this year if the final two years of his contract weren't renegotiated. But he showed up in training camp on time, saying he wanted to prove he was worthy of a blockbuster contract through his play."

Damn that sucks, T O sure could use a page or two out of his book on class.

THis is an ironic story- Walker thinks his shit dont stink last week, now he will be lucky to ever be back in probowl form- ever. I feel bad for Bret though, he came back this year with a pretty good offense, and a crappy defence. Now he has an above average offense, and still- a crappy defense. This will be a long season for the Pack.

A truth teller who doesn't care who's taken aback by his devil-may-care pronouncements. As a self-confessed Pack fan, why were you amused by your season pulling up lame?

Favre is the best QB in the history of the game. Just my opinion.

He might be charlatan but that doesn't give him the right to negotiate another man's contract, a teammate nonetheless, in the media or the lockerroom.

Besides the only minicamp that walker missed was a non contact non mandatory minicamp. So you guys who say hes not in shape are full of it. He still showed up for training camp and the preseason, hes been working at it for 3 months. He may have threatened hold out, but he knew that he still had to come to work and get the job done. so he put that aside for the year. Walker is young yet. he'll rehab it and be fine next year. True he wont get the contract then but he'll still be one of the better recievers than most in the NFL.

Favre is the best QB in the history of the game We could argue that until the cows come home....heck, we could start a whole new blog on that one!

hey bottom feeder, I didn't have to read the article you idiot...I know someone who works for the Packers. Don't quote me unless you know what you are talking about. If I'm wrong...I'll be the 1st to admit it. ....if you believe he came back because "he wanted to prove his blockbuster contract/pro bowl status" you need a serious reality check. Yeah...right. They told him he wasn't going to get a new contract and they were ready to sit his ass the entire year. Walker realized at this early stage he could not afford that..and I'm not talking about what he was making per year. I'm talking future reprecussions. Hell....I didn't need anybody on the inside for that skinny. Just thought I'd let you know that. P.S. I am a Packer Fan...but let's face it kids...reality lurks around here somewhere. And no, I did not like it when Walker went down...but think about it. Preseason was invented to try and help prevent that. These guys that hold out are only hurting themselves. Now he could be done. Finished. I do not want that. He's a player..well, at least he was starting to be one. I'll bet..don't know this...but I'll bet that Farve somewhere along the line told Walker this. Farve the best in the Game...ever? C'mon, I love the guy too. Fun to watch....devil may care...but ever hear of Montana...Elway....Unitas...Starr... Farve's in the top 5. Count rings...not stats Try reality...it won't hurt...doesn't feel as good...but it's the truth.

I don't understand how you can be preaching about reality, but ignoring the facts that have been pointed out earlier in this thread. Javon Walker did not hold out. He did not miss camp. He did not miss any preseason games.

He did not miss any preseason games. Shhh! Don't talk back to him! He's got "inside sources"! If his Packer pal says Walker skipped camp and missed the pre-season, then it must be true!

Hey grumwit I did not say he missed any games...I did not say he missed camp. I said "these guys that hold out" sorry...did not think I had to explain that these guys who threaten to hold out...is that better....they are the ones who miss out. Their minds are not so much on playing their position as much as, "how much money am I losing." You need to get a life. Just because I have some inside friends...does that offend you? Are you jealous? I didn't ask for your moronic wit...but nevertheless you gave it. Hope that made your day...now go back to your grocery shelves stockboy. Look at the game film. See how he gets hurt. Can you see..or did you even care to notice the way he tried to step out of that tackle. That's not even being close to being in season form you moron. Look at the tape and tell me he looked in shape. Have you ever played the Game? Before you step on somebody...have your facts straight.

Walker got what he deserved. Do not get into playing shape...instead play the hold out game...and see what happens. You're splitting those hairs a little fine. And on the Internet, no one believes you know anything until you prove it. How does the injury show he was out of shape? Does TO look "out of shape" even during the off-season? You must have an amazing eye for detail, honed during all those years playing the game.

hey...what do you know...another stockboy

posted by hardrock2005 at 11:12 AM on September 13, 2005

Don't forget yerfatma, he also knows some other interesting info -- the size of Javon's ACL, how flexible he is, how strong his muscles are, what his offseason conditioning regimen is, and that the injury was preventable. And even more impressive, he knows what Javon is thinking. Their minds are not so much on playing their position as much as, "how much money am I losing." It is almost scary.

...did not think I had to explain that these guys who threaten to hold out...is that better....they are the ones who miss out... Rorschach? Is that you...I didn't know you were a Packers fan. That explains the insider-double-secret-conspiracy-info on Walker too.

Just so everyone knows, not everyone from Wisconsin is a whack job. I'm assuming he's from wisconi with him being a packer fan and his "inside" information( I think he knows a stockholder).

first of all hardrock2005 you obviously dont know what you are talikng about either you or your so called inside packers source. preseason is NOT for the starters to prepare themselves against injury or they would all play the entire game. Preseason is to determine who the teams are going to keep on their 53 person roster. second catfish is right that is why players like T.O. and javon holdout because now that he is hurt what is the packers organization going to do for him? and if he cant return for a while are they going to continue to pay him no they are not because of cap issues. and i know this personally because i played pro ball.

Yeah, hold up a sec: Deion Branch was held out of the entire pre-season by his coaches. Ask the Raiders if he looked like he was in game shape.

thank you yerfatma my point exactly.

All that drafting and strategy. By the way...who's got Owens? I'd trade 'em now. See ya kids...it was fun chewing by the way fatboy...nice cartoon. I like it. Now be a good little bagger and get back to work!
