Bonnarooed - : hallucinogen- induced "I am God" syndrome strikes again.

This is a sad story. People will make jokes about it, but in the end, we are talking about a life in turmoil....The stress of D-1 sports is brutal.

Huh- what?

Yes, the pressure on these top-level college players is huge, but people survive it all the time, especially when they come from a family where top-tier college sports is the family business. (His father was the RB coach, for pete's sake. He knew what he'd have to go through as the starting QB for FSU as well as anyone ever could.) But as a cautionary tale for what could happen if you listen to Dave Matthews for too long, I don't think this story can be spread far enough. Remember: just say no, kids. Just say no.

Knowing that there is pressure and going through it are two different things. I am sad whenever someting like this happens. I am not blaming anyone thing or person. The Baylor BB player was sentenced for murdering his teammate, that made me sad. Granted these people have nobody to blame but themselves. It just seems to be a big waste of a human being when someone ruins their life.

rcade, i'm making the assumption the young lad 'partook' while away at the music festival in TN.

Alex, what is... Lysergic Acid Diethylamide?

daddisamm, thanks for the comically depressing first comment....D-1 sports...Oh the humanity!

There is a lot of pressure in D-1 sports and life in general.

It might not be drugs, though his concert attendance and sudden onset omnipotence syndrome sound like LSD. He's right at the age that some people develop schizophrenia.

good point.

Man he was given some strong acid{lsd} or some type of a psychoactive hallucinogen {mescalin}{mushrooms} stress ...blah.This guy was tripping hard too hard obviously.

Though schizophrenia is definately a strong possibility.

I still blame Dave Matthews' music. Stay away from it, kids. You're playing with fire. If you wanna get high and take the weekend off, stick with something a little less evil, like, oh, the Allman Brothers or Massive Attack, whatever floats your Seminole self. Okay, back on topic: Was this a year that FSU was expecting to make a serious Title Push? Or are they prepared to nurture one of the sophomores along in case Sexton can't go?

Dave Matthews damn near ruined "Tremendous Brunettes" on Mike Doughty's new album. Do you have to do your weird vocal stylings as a backup singer?

That's some pretty strong juju. Bonnaroo ended Sunday night. Besides, a quarterback can't eat a little acid at a concert and escape public ridicule? Maybe he joined the rest of the heads in thinking that Trey's new band is totally hit or miss and needed a little boost.

making the assumption he was tripping... Getting pepper sprayed while on acid('shrooms, whatever) must be quite an experience!

DMB, in general, is a little....evil. But the live acoustic album with Tim Reynolds is great...

Great story about Dave Matthews Band... oh wait...there aren't any... only sadness and pain

So, no one really knows about FSU's expectations for '05, then?

posted by chicobangs at 11:27 PM on June 15, 2005

i'd say they have been recently lowered.

As soon as I read this a couple days ago I immediately knew the guy dropped. As someone who has had his fair share of trips I am familiar with the signs. In one case I accompanied a tripping friend to a Las Vegas hospital because he had "too much too fast". That and he was severely dehydrated. At one point he saw me and started babbling "I'm one with the univserse!" This guy will be fine, I bet, and hope. (and I hate FSU)

Oh, and I attended Bonnaroo in 2003 and had a blast. But I can easily see how the weather may have played a role with this player just as the heat played a role with my friend's bad trip in Vegas.

Pshaw...reminds me of two things I learned at college in Gainesville: 1. Those idiots in Tallahassee can't handle their drugs; 2. Everybody knows God is a Gator. Res Ipsa Locquitar
