Myskina wins French Open: Named after a Russian royal, Anastasia Myskina took her place on the throne of claycourt tennis on Saturday, thrashing Elena Dementieva in an all-Russian French Open final.

But is she a babe?

Beyond a shadow of a question, Buddha. Vavoom, etc. And she's going to be around for a while. She's gotten better every year.

See ya, Kournikova. I think we have a new winner. W-I-N-N-E-R.

btw, Myskina images Dementieva images While I don't think they match Kournikova in the looks dept., they have more than amply trounced her in the actually-winning-something-at-the-highest-level dept. Google War has different results: Myskina vs Kournikova 103,000 - 1,680,000 Dementieva vs Kournikova 108,000 - 1,680,000

And Chicobangs, BillSaysCheckYourEyes because that girl, while not ugly, is not close to my definition of 'babe'.

Bah, not a patch on Daniela Hantuchova

Bah, not a patch on Daniela Hantuchova Dude, she looks like Malcolm In The Middle.

Hantuchova looks like, at most, the middle of the middle of Malcolm in the Middle. No knock, just saying. And talent and success are as big a turn-on for me as blue-eyed brunettes with great legs are. Anna K. looks like a computer-generated doll. I understand the attraction, it's just -- ah, let me slip past you in the line to meet Myskina, then, okay, Bill? Right. Again, everyone wins.

Talk to me about Hantuchova when she wins something. She doesn't measure up to Myskina or even Dementieva in that dept. And she sure doesn't come close to Anna in the other dept.

I think it's all about Ashley Harkleroad.

Gee, it's a good thing that at least some of them are babes. Otherwise, what reason would there be to watch women's tennis, or any women's sports? (for the history-impaired: even those who sprinkle euphoric drugs on their breakfast cereal, and who therefore believe that women's and men's sports are at parity, are not so deluded as to believe that it has been that way for very long at all. when, as we have here, the majority of comments in a thread about female athletes is about their appearance rather than their ability, that's not coincidence...it's just History Repeating, a continuation of the same shit, different decade. it doesn't matter how far we've come, baby, if we keep getting dragged back.)

don't think they match Kournikova in the looks dept. I agree with chicobangs. Anna to me was always just a plain jane with blonde hair, a short skirt and a tan. Myskina is still growing into her looks, but she has that same thing that the very foxy Katherine Moenning has. Then again, my tastes have always run more toward single malt scotches than vanilla milkshakes, though both may have agreeable qualities to most. As far as the actual tennis goes, I'm rooting for another dominant figure to come onto the scene as the Williams sisters just don't seem to have the desire any more.
