Red Sox 2003: the movie: Given unprecedented access to all things 2003 Red Sox last season, Bombo Sports and Entertainment (sneak peek of the film there) documented the entire run from spring training to Game 7 of the ALCS, amassing 250 hours of film including games, interviews with players, front office, clubhouse activity and following fans throughout the entire season.ThinkFilm has acquired the film and plans on releasing it this spring in Boston, with hopes of a wider release nationally. please please please don't let this be another stupid HBO Curse of the Bambino.

"Do I sound like a musical robot?" Love that kid. He needs his own reality show. There's one I'd definitely watch.

Man, just looking at the IMDB page, I can see that it will stink. I mean, it's got first-billed characters with names like "Boy #1, Boy #3, Doctor #1, Nurse#2." Not a good sign for character development...

i'm torn. cause i love kevin smith and i'm a sucker for all things jersey. but, mr. affleck called me evil and said to stay away. (scroll to the bottom).

Smith: “There are some Yankee fans who might have gone to see this picture until you opened your big fat mouth.” Affleck: “Stay away, stay away you evil, evil people.” Wow ... I had no idea Ben Affleck was so smart!

He isn't. And he's not the Red Sox Nation representative either.

Kevin Smith is physically incapable of making a bad movie--remember that Affleck has had reasonable supporting or lead roles in all his movies to date except Clerks. JG, I think you will end up happy with your namesake. I mean, Liv Tyler, okay?

the title actually refers to the little girl in the movie.

" . . . he's not the Red Sox Nation representative either." He sounded fine when he trashed Lou Merloni. It was only when he back down that I began to question his leadership. From now on, my president is Charleton Heston.

Looks like dashing hopes aren't the only thing the Cubs and Red Sox have in common. This old Cub, a film about Ron Santo, former third baseman and current broadcaster for the Cubs (as well as "the most egregious [omission] ever made by the Baseball Writers Association of America"), was filmed during the 2003 season as well.

For the Red Sox movie, they're asking fans to vote on which of four titles it should have: This Is the Year, Another Season, Fenway Blues or Red Sox Blues. Not the most creative titles in the world--I guess "The 2003 Boston Red Sox" was too edgy for them. A caller to sports radio in Boston yesterday lamented, "It's too bad 'Titanic' is already taken."

You can vote here is you feel strongly about any of those four choices.

ThinkFilm also did Spellbound which I saw recently. If they do half as good a job on the Red Sox movie, I wouldn't worry too much. From the site, it sounds more like they are following the team and a handful of specific fans, rather than just interviewing local media members and other famous people like in the HBO documentary. Hopefully it will be Shaughnessy-free.
