It might be June before Sheffield actually plays a game for the Yankees. : Tears ligament. Needs surgery. Could be out 3 months.

So, for the sake of the office pools... Does this count as the first Yankee on the DL? Or does Williams and his appendectomy count instead? Sheffield is actually going to be ON the DL, but Williams was the first one "injured".

Naturally, the trade options pop up: Ordonez or Griffey. Interesting note there about a possible pre-existing condition too. What do they have left to trade that anyone wants? IMO, Soriano was their last bargaining chip to be spent at the trade deadline.

Lucked out! Of course, its hard to say the Yankees can attribute anything to luck really. “ We're not out of the woods on this, don't get me wrong. But today's news was certainly more encouraging. ” that sounds... not super confident. If he was injured similarly last year and reinjured it... now's actually not a bad time to have the surgery. Better to miss some of Spring Training, April, May and some of June than to miss July, August and September.

What I wonder is who the Yankees have left to offer to someone like the ChiSox for Ordonez? Nick Johnson's gone, Soriano's gone, many prospects are gone; are there any marketable, young players still available if the Yankees need to make a deal at some point this year?

Pedro still healthy? Is Nomar gonna be all hugs and kisses in the dugout this season?

And he's already complaining about how Cashman handled the story. His thumb might not be a problem this season, but does anyone really think his attitude won't be?

Anyone else think that 3 months to 3 days over night smells of fabricated distraction? Bonds is hurt too, now. Is the body prone to injury once a steroid regiment is stopped.

Garfield, you silly rabbit, there are no steroids in baseball. Sheff and Bonds getting hurt is not a conspiracy. Giambi is going to pull a muscle this weekend, but you didn't hear it from me. This conversation never happened.
