If you're sensing an unidentified source of tension in the locker room today, it's probably because my Billikens are down NoMich's way preparing to take on the NC State Wolfpack in one of tonight's Men's NCAA Soccer Final Four semifinal matches.

State is the highest seed remaining in this College Cup. So they must a 1 or a 2 seed or something high like that? No, they're a 15 seed!

The College Cup is being played right here in Cary, NC. Too cold, though. If I wanted to be outside to watch a sporting event in the cold, I would still be in northern Michigan. Eff that ess.

This does seem a weird time of year for an outdoor championship. Growing up playing soccer in OK you kinda just dealt with the various elements, but I always found playing in the cold especially miserable. Nothing like hopping in the shower the next morning and looking down to find your legs that are tie-dyed with bruises from getting smacked by a rock-hard ball.

That might work in SLU's favor though - we're currently clear but are up to 10.5" of snow already for the Winter and it's felt like January more often than not for about six weeks so they should be pretty acclimated to it by now.

It's been cold here for the last few weeks so I think the Pack are acclimated as well. In fact, we've a few days of snow down here this week, plus right now. Nothing is sticking, though.

Don't get too excited about the prospect of that, but hey, you never know.

I popped on the Washington/Furman game (mostly to see if I actually have access to ESPNU, which, yay) and the Furman University team all have "FU" on the backs of their jerseys where the names usually are and I kinda love it.

Sort of like the call letters of the radio station at the University of North Texas being KNTU, when a lot of folks think the letters should be placed in the correct order.

Don't worry about such things harming rcade's innocence. For decades, Jacksonville has had a radio station with the call letters WAPE.

The station uses a gorilla logo to accentuate the "APE" part of the call sign, but still...

In the 70's, they had a big billboard visible from I-95 somewhere up around Golfair Blvd. The call letters were much bigger than the monkey.

Radio operators working in manual Morse Code sometimes use the sign-off "see you next time" abbreviated as --.--. ..-- --. -- or C * * *
