In a move OutSports calls "the most stifling, anti-LGBTQ policy any pro sports league in North America has ever issued", the NHL has (arguably) more than doubled-down on distancing itself from Pride Nights, now barring individual players from opting to use Pride Tape on their sticks during warm-ups.

But if a player really just likes to have rainbow tape on his stick, it's ok, right? I hope players tell Bettman and the NHL to go fuck themselves. I can see McDavid taping rainbow up and daring the league to do anything about it.

I see it as an opportunity for advocacy groups to do what has been done with big tobacco and is starting to be done with guns: don't fight the war on a righteous policy and ethics battlefield. Hit 'em in the money at the courthouse. That's where pain is more immediately and effectively felt by the unctuous.

Bettman could end up seeing boycotts and demonstrations as well as legal filings. A wrap of tape could end up causing him an amount of discomfort he couldn't have imagined. On multiple fronts and in two countries.

There's a good chance that getting rid of the loathed Bettman and others in his camp might be a lot cleaner and less damaging than what the NFL owners and league office did to get rid of Dan Snyder.

Amazing ending to the Phillies/Braves game last night. Let's have Jomboy break it down for us.
