MLB has postponed games in New York and Philadelphia tonight due to air quality. Supposedly the plan is doubleheaders tomorrow, though that feels like wishful thinking.

St. Louis has somehow been lucky enough to get the Southeast nadir of the Alberta fires and the Southwest edge of the current ones in Ont/Que, so we've been dealing with this at a moderate level off and on for a few weeks. Nothing bad enough to cancel events, but plenty of low-grade headaches and throat/eye irritation. The pics I've seen from friends up East recently have been on a whole different apocalyptic level. Agreed that a double-header tomorrow seems optimistic and I wonder if MLB execs aren't scrambling to form a medium-term contingency plan.

If we can walk together,
Why can't we hack up a lung together?

We've been fortunate here in southern NH. There's a low pressure system that has kept the smoke to the west and south of us. My worries are about the fires in Nova Scotia. I have a lot of family, not close but still family, living in the western part of the province. One of the fires is visible from one cousin's home, and another cousin who lives near Halifax was warned to be ready to evacuate. Fortunately there has been some heavy rain in the last few days, so the threat has eased. The fires are listed as 'contained, but they are not out. We're praying not only for Nova Scotia but also for the people in the rest of Canada who are facing the dangers.
